Detergent Door doesn't Pop Open - Whirlpool Dishwasher

My parents have a Whirlpool dishwasher - probably about 3 years old. The detergent door is now failing to pop open. If you manually trip the lever, it will open, just not during wash cycle. Thoughts? I've tried running the washer with no detergent (thinking that her gel packs were gunking up the door), but no luck.

You might try:

First, be sure to turn off the Electricity, then take off the Door Panel and check out where the Dispenser is connected with the Wire Clips, to make sure that they are plugged in tight enough and/or no Wires having any cuts in the Insulation of any broken Wires. Then check out the inside part of the Dispenser where the Mechanism opens the Door/Cover, to see if there might be something blocking the Latch, causing it to not open completely.
