Was the twin tub made for wash and rinse or to wash two loads at the same time and rinse in the sink?? THANKS

Actually it could be used for both. Check eBay; I see a few 1950's Dexter and Philco twin-tub wringers on there from time to time. Keep in mind that they are VERY rare and it may take a while to find one, but patience is rewarded!

Ah, my favorite wringer washer from when I was much younger. I would spend every Monday that I could downstairs watching my mother use that machine.
I don't know if other people used them the same way as she did, but she would fill both tubs with water and detergent, one tub with hot water, the second tub with warm water. Then she put each load of clothes through both tub for aboput 10 to 15 minutes per wash tub. The clothes would be first washed in the hot tub, and then she would put the clothes through the wringer, letting the clothes fall into the second tub while it was agitating. It was so fun to watch the clothes slowly but surely be pulled down into the second washer as it agitated.
For rinsing she only used the laundry tubs that we had.

You could also do the following: Wash on the left; first rinse on the right while draining and refilling the left, then second rinse on the left. While this was going on, re-use the rinse water on the right for a second wash load, then first rinse on the left in the water that was used for the first load's second rinse, etc.
Any machine that lets you separate and run various processes in parallel, or store water between consecutive loads (e.g. suds-savers), would be amenable to that arrangement.
It would be cool to have an arrangement for programmable FLs, using two different water discharge hoses, one of which would go into a storage tank. Store the final rinse water and re-use that for washing the next load. This would get you the "two loads on one tub of water" efficiencies of a twin-tub but with a fully automatic cycle. And the water pouring into the storage tank would give the cats and dogs another thing to watch in the laundry room

Folks I bought a Dexter Twin Wooden Tub Wringer Washer last year, I paid for it and it is currenty in storage at a Antique Dealer's business. I intend to go and get it in a couple of weeks. Does anyone have any literature on one of these washers it have one of these washers.
