Let's start with the fact that there is huge user error involved here. I, myself performed an undisputed I.D.10T error.
Here goes:
Our "pop" fridge is an ABSOCOLD 10 cu ft apartment refrigerator. It is a terrific budget fridge and does indeed still get absolutely cold after over 15 years of use.
For Thanksgiving I put the pop in the fridge as usual. Unfortunately I set the cold setting to 4 which ensures something will break. This is a single-door fridge. Both my Crosley single-door and this Absocold will freeze things in the fridge compartment if set too cold.
But here is the odd thing. I went downstairs and found pop cans torn in two, upside down and literally thrown about the interior of the fridge.
However it was only the DIET PEPSI that blew. All else was ok. I had Pepsi Throwback, Ginger Ale, 7-Up.
What gives with DIET? Or was it a coincidence?
