Sandy, your comment reminds me a French-Canadian TV sketch aired on the public Radio-Canada TV network from 1986 featuring a GE microwave oven used as a TV!

It refers to a small private television network that opened that year with very limited budget. The director of programming had his wife working for the most popular private TV network. He's personified by the woman disguised as a native and he appears in a parody of his wife's show at the end of the sketch. He wants to stay on the stage as he likes the idea of being watched by more than 5000 persons on the other TV network!

Hopefully one or two members will understand something! I was 9 when this aired but I had taped it on VHS and watched it quite a few times as I thought it was very funny!

Here's the director of programming of the small network in the event that inspired the sketch. Even if you don't understand French, you'll see that he has a strange way to speak!

PhilR - having listened to French Canadian radio stations all my life(though I can't speak much French), this lady sounds like a kindergarten teacher, talking to a group of children with her style of speaking (funny inflections). I have some tape recordings that go back to the mid-80's, from the Canadian tv station Channel 9, no radar range props, just Dave Allen Show. (David Tynan O'Mahony).

That range looks very similar to my Amana RR-700, but it's just a countertop, not built-in.

Behemoth, yes! Amana starts with a 700, puts it in an unfinished steel cabinet with flanges (different venting), adds the side swinging door and panel with vent blockoff plate from the 3+1, then tacks on the fancy surround with light and fan and gives it a wild model number. You could also get it with a more basic surround for a "built in" installation.

did think it was a 700, and I like the trim around it - but is the unit ft3 (interior) the same as the RR-700, I wonder? It just looks bigger in that trim, otherwise.
