Dirt-Devil Bagless Deal

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I will never, never EVER have a bagless vacuum cleaner. If you buy one of these cheap thingies and it lasts for only 3-4 years (at best), it would've been a more worthwhile investment to spend a bit more on a bagged model which will last you 8-10 years (give or take a few years, depending on how it's treated).

Another thing about bagless...their suction power is crap! Most of them have a small amount of air leakage at the top of the canister.

I have a Sears Kenmore Whispertone vacuum cleaner I bought 10 years ago. I recently had the drive belt replaced on it. It now performs like it wants to do the vacuuming by itself.

Take your money and invest in something a bit sturdier.

Chintzy vacs

I'd hate to know how much my sister has spent on cheap vacuum cleaners in the last 30 years - I imagine it's in the thousands! Seems like everytime I go there she has a new one; always a cheap piece of plastic junk. Back in the early 80's I got her a decent Hoover Convertible for Christmas, and she used it 3 or 4 years. Something went wrong with it - probably minor - and instead of getting it fixed, she went out and got something else. She's had Dirt Devils, Bissell, a couple cheap Eurekas and Hoovers, and who knows what else. I've told her a Sanitaire would hold up well for her, but she thinks they are too expensive. I'm beginning to think she thinks you just throw the whole thing away when it's full!

They call them bagless Vacs but I feel I have spent too much time cleaning out the filter on my Eureka Bagless upright, I also feel it is a messy cleanup with the round filters that fill up wiht dust and whatever. I feel you spend more time banging and brushing the filter to make sure you have full suction once you have emptied the container. I would rather stick to my Electrolux's and Eureka's with bags. I dont know of anyone who truly lets a bag get full to the brim before replacing it.

I don't like bagless vacuums for the most part either-their pleated or other types of filters plug up quickly-so the user just tries to keep vacuuming with a vacuum that is then less useful than a broom.Or they will stop and clean the filter after each room cleaning.Just too messy.and if you follow the vac makers instructions on replacing filters-it ends the same cost as bags or more so.I have seen so many of these pitiful vacuums-yes they look cool and pretty when new-but after several uses end up as dusty, smelly, hulks. And see so many in the vac repair shops, and yes,the shops dumpster, and trashpiles by the road waiting for the trash truck-out my way-PakMore and Leach-the RL trash truck gets a dusty, crunchy, plastic meal!

Kenmore:

(Looking at ground and slowly raising hand) I have...but it's only happened twice. And I won't let it happen again...it was one hell of a mess to clean up after. ;)

Dyson

I have Dyson bagless.  For the most part, it has been a great machine.  I probably wouldn't replace it with another though.  Didn't CR rate vacuum cleaners recently?
