Glad you enjoyed it. Shame I couldn't keep her running. If I had the room I'd keep it.

I thought I'd dissect her and have a closer look at the air valve and take some pics for you guys. Yep It had a heap of sludge in it. The unit is made as one piece, so I took it over to the garden tap, full ball and heaps of crud came right out of it. If I were still repairing it, I'd have to sit it in solution overnight to get most of it out.

Interestingly, while I was taking all the parts out and salvaging what I could, the other rubber hose connected to it had a crack at the bottom - so that was stuffed too leaking a small amount of water. Possibly exacerbated by me having the machine hooked up to the hot inlet. Or maybe just because it was over 30 years old might have had something to do with it. Not too bad, some glue and a good tape would've kept that going for the time being. I only ran the machine under supervision/ when I'm home in case of failure anyway. Same with the dryers, don't want to come back a pile of ashes for a house.

Every three months I would run a dedicated Finish dishwasher cleaner through it on full cycle - shame that didn't clear the build up in that chamber on its way out the outlet hose.

Yes right about that New World being rebadged - here's an article of a man still using his (more impressive due to it being in the UK with the colder weather and still in the kitchen). Loved the story of your mum's first dishwasher.

See pics for build up and its large pump and motor both as one unit.

So she had multiple failures all at once. It was repairable but once it turned into electrical shorting due to the flooding then too much of an issue.

Nearly forgot one of my favourite things about the Dishlex - the technical schematics found in the service panel.

I even filled in the work performed section over the years since I got it in 2017. Tragic.
