This Diswasher is nice. I know the detergent cup is in the center of the racks. It still has a bit of undissolved detergent in it. alr

If someone makes a deal with the seller. I will pick up the dishwasher  for you.  Helena Ark. is a little less than 2hrs away from us.  I will meet the seller in Tunica Ms.  and hold it for you.  Same seller as the "Helena Ark. Westy Twins Thread".    The seller is a very nice Lady, Ms. Nita.   Arthur

Arthur, do you have the contact information for the seller? The original CL ad for the Westy washer and dryer has expired... I'd be interested in this if the price is reasonable!!

That is only a couple of hours from me...

...but by the time I rent a truck to get it here I'd be around $800 which I think is too much for that.  Too bad.  I hope someone saves it.

Arthur, what are the chances that someone can get it running again in your opinion?

Oh just say it Paul... that price is not reasonable.

All right, I'll say it: it's a bit much for an unrestored machine whose operating condition is unknown... Finding replacement parts for one of these would be quite the challenge plus it's not been removed - I've been hosed on a couple of pull-out style dishwashers that got seriously badly damaged and were missing critical parts when they were removed.

Short answer here: pass...

There probably isn't $600 Worth Of Scrap or Part Value

In that dishwasher, well maybe for parts but even then.

When will these sellers learn not all vintage appliances are a gold mine?

Yes there is a market out there for older appliances but it is very subjective and fickle. When you start getting into long ago discontinued appliances spares and knowledge about repairs are hard to come by. Even when you are able to lay hands on a service manual you still need the skills to diagnose any problems (or find someone that can) and often even harder to source parts, NOS or otherwise. This does not even take into account costs of shifting these often heavy boxes of metal.

all it takes...

is for a few nit-wits to put stuff up on eBay at absurd asking prices (whatever happened to the concept of AUCTION?) and everybody thinks their vintage appliance will fund their retirement! Sometimes patience is a virtue... they will find out soon enough what it's worth to the buying public.

"whatever happened to the concept of AUCTION?)"

Some find out and relist it at a lower price, but I don't see the price supporting value, only support from people who light their campfires with hundred dollar bills, apparently.

Guys while this d/w is not mine.  I seriously doubt any harm will come to anyone making an offer.   Just like negotiating a car deal.  Its that simple.

LoL,,  I don't blame you, I would not ask me to haul it either.  I may need parts for the 1951 or a swap?

I have a weakness for ST SQ's .  I hope everyone has a great weekend.  I have been here a long time, I know who the good guys are.  I bicker with one of you regularly.
