Hello I am in need of a DJ amplifier it has to be at least a 3,000 watt amp and it has to work. if any one has one that would be willing to trade my 1950's Maytag I would be honored
thank you
Mike

hey man, I don't have anything in that watt range but do you like Marantz amps? i sorta collect some of the stuff they made back in the 1970's.

3Kw amp-where to begin?-is this power to be RMS-or average cont power-if so the amp will need to run from 220V-30A!You will need a dryer outlet to run it!Crown International makes an amp this big and bigger-but those need three phase 208-220V to run them.Meant for large stadiums, and industrial use.McIntosh makes a model this large as well-beleive it needed two 120V 20A circuits to run it.Or Maybe one of us in the broadcast sector can get you a Modulator stage out of a 5Kw AM broadcast transmitter-that would make a nice but not portable 3Kw amp-and it would use tubes-large transmitter tubes. The mod transformner or coupler transformer weighs about 400lbs.Anyway-QSC also makes high powered amps-would suggest a much more modest power rating coupled to more efficeint speakers-that way its less expensive, more portable,to take around-and you can run it off standard 120V.A 300-500W QSC or Crown amp should be more than enough in that case. You can connect your DJ mix console to the input of the amp.also there are some Amplified DJ consoles out there-amp and mixer in one unit. The separate mixer and amp is still best. The largest amps to run from 120V 15A would be in the 700W RMS range.Any higher you need the 120V20A circuit or 220V.

When I DJ'd back in high school/college (I started at 14 & dj'd into my late 20's), I pushed 500w/channel. That's way more than enough to fill a normal hall. 3000w? ouch, that'll be ear splitting (& I used to like my music loud).

Lab Gruppen

makes a 6400 watt amp, but like Tolivac says, you need 220 volts/30amps to run it. We have one in our bar set up to run four McCauley twin subs. You can really feel the music! We also have a QSC RMS 4500, for the mids, and a QSC RMX 800 for the tweets - tri-amp set up.

I personally have a Carver PM-1.5 that pushes 1500 watts and I find that's plenty of volume to fill a dance hall or DJ gig.

no I ment 3,000 Peak 500 rms If any one has one that they would be willing to trade for a 1950s maytag washer that would be great. I really have no room for the washer but I am in need of the amplifier. Crown QSC BGW Peavey or anything that is in the 3,000 watt peak range I would be greatful

Mike-what size town is Greene NY-If its large or near NYC-there should be sound-DJ supply places in those areas. You should be able to audition and purchase amps ,speakers and other equipment at those places. Is there a "bargain" trader type magazine in your area?Look in that-you may be able to find some nice used amps that way and at lower cost than buying new.Just be sure to check it out carefully before buying. You don't want to buy someone eleses "dud".It sounds like no in in Applianceville has such an amp.Another shot--do you know anyone that works at radio-TV stations-esp the engineer? If so they can connect you to places that sell DJ equipment.Radio station suppliers selll DJ equipment in case radio stations want to use it for "remote" DJ music type programs.Broadcast Supply West comes to mind.Broadcasters General Store is another.these do have websites-maybe you can find and order what you need from them!Even though these do serve brroadcasters-they may sell to an individual who is using the equipment for business purposes. And the equipment you buy from these is BRAND NEW!It may be worth it than take chances on used gear.I hope that helps-Good luck finding your amp!

it is not a large town and is about 4-6 ours away from NYC I have family down in the city and I visis them once or twice a year but I have an amp all lined up for me at our local music shop it is a used Peavey cs 1000 It looks and works like brand new. I am buying it for $350 along with a community Subwoofer I cannot wait my neighbors are going to sorry that they party at 230 in the morning. also I cannot wait to start my business djing At local clubs and school dances. I have most of the equipment except for the power amp which is on hold at the shop

Crown Com-Techs, Micro-techs, and the like

These can frequently be had on E-bay for around the $100-$200 range. Last year, when Tower music shops closed up, they sort of flooded E-bay with a ton of Com-tech 800 amplifiers, which all the stores had for their in-store sound systems. They are 400 watts RMS per channel, or 800 bridged...sort of like what you are looking for...I bought two from the local tower music for $100 each and use them on my home theater system. There are lots more to be had around the same price. Com-tech amplifiers have screw terminals for the audio ins and the speaker outs.

There are other amps built in the same design under the names "macro Tech", Micro tech", and "Power base" all of these design amps are extremely durable amplifiers that sound great!
