I LOVE YELLOW, that is the exact same yellow I had first painted my kitchen, I LOVE that shade, but it didn't seem to work in my kitchen and I ended up repainting in light gray. Looks great Jason, you must be so excited.

The problem with 10ft ceilings and it's a pain to change the speed on the fan. I'm too short to reach the string. Solution: Fan control knobs. Simple. Didn't they come out with a thermostat for ceiling fans so that they work automatic?

Auto Ceiling fans

For about 30 dollors you can get a remote at Home Depot to control the light and fan. It is thermostatically controlled and has a dimmer for the light. It even has a feature to automatically turn the light off after x number of minutes. I love mine and the best part is it works on any fan and doesn't require separate wiring for the light and fan. Check it out, it works really well. I am slowly putting them on all my fans.

Also, I see an outlet has appeared by the kitchen sink for the dishwasher and disposal. I was getting a little nervous there. Hate to think of a AWO brother without a dishwasher!! LOL!!

Togs,

While pulling your chain or turning it on manually would be easiest, using a remote for electrical stimulation is the new modern, automatic way ;-)

The builder said it will be ready before July 10th, which is when Helen and I come back from Tenessee.

The Oasis set and the Fridge is coming two weeks before that so if the water/electricity is turned on, I may have to sneak in and do a few washes.

No

You just have to lower the canapy at the top of the fan and wire it. It is very easy to do. You lower the canapy and slip the receiver into that bracket. Connect the house wiring to one end and the other end to the light and fan wiring and put the canapy back up. I'll see if I can take a picture at home and show you.

The remote is great. YOu set the temp and the fan comes on and off on it's own or you can set it for manual.

That rocks

I'll be able to do it easily with the living room fan because it's a normal type. The bedroom fans are the ceiling hugger types which will mean taking off the light and blades, and getting into it like that, unless the canopy will lower enough to get the wires on.

Maybe later on, I might get a "modern" fan. Black/silvery kinda UFO thang, and getting remote w/thermostat would be wonderful to have esp in the bedroom (control the fan/make Helen freeze without getting up). I still wonder WHY WHY WHY don't central AC's have thermostats with remote control. It seems it would be simple to make a remote so you can adjust the AC at night.

Speaking of stats. When the AC man comes to install the AC, HONEYWELL DIGITAL ROUND. Not the cheap Hunter (their fans are great, their t'stats suck). The honeywell needs no batteries and remembers your setting. Plus it's 1degree accurate so no drastic temp changes.

I mean really. A small radio transmitter on a simple remote control with up/down, fan on/auto and mode cool/heat/off and little reciever in the thermostat to get the signal. They do that all the time with window AC's. How about some wireless for us central air users.
