The topic of Dormeyer blenders came up recently and it got me thinking it would be fun to drag a few of the Dormeyers that live in the garage collection loft and into the kitchen for some active duty!

Here's three that I thought would be fun to demo...

First up - an early 50s Dormeyer that was rebaged as a Montgomery Ward model. Ward's mixers and blenders for a good part of the 1950s were made by Dormeyer!

So, let's see what the Chrome Dormeyer can do... A Friday night standard in Ogden is Caesar Salad - the dressing recipe came from the long-gone Steinberg's grocery store in Montreal and believe me - it's foolproof.

So, the final recipe was for pumpkin pie on Saturday, in preparation for Thanksgiving dinner with pinkgurl and her family.

The 62 Dormeyer is a great choice for this recipe - you'll see why later...

The eggs get a medium speed blending first.

Add a cup and a half of cooked pumpkin, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup of white sugar, a teaspoon of vanilla, and a can of evaporated milk and Blend Well!

Note the volume of the mixture - not a recipe you want to try in a blender jar that can't hold 5 cups... LOL

And making the pumpkin pie filling in the blender makes it soooo easy to pour the filling into the pastry shell! If you're smarter than me, you can set your pie shell on the oven shelf, THEN pour the filling into them...

My Bormeyer

is shaped like the chrome one, but enameled instead of chrome. That's a nice brace of blenders you have there. Do you know the year of the chrome model and could you post a closer pic of the lid so I'll know what I'm looking for? Thanks for dragging them o!ut

Very nice Dormeyer blenders-never seen them, but heard of Dormeyer blenders. From your tests--they do good jobs on various recipies.Yes,shows you can use blenders to do other things than just mix drinks.Geez-imagine how much pumpkin pie filling could be made in my Vita-Mix 1.5 gal XL!The Dormeyer made enough for two pies.
