sink cabinets

Hey Blackstone, thanks for the picture. Looks like you have a cool house. Queen Anne or Victorian?

Perhaps building farmhouse sinks into cabinets was more common here in the South. I've never seen one on legs, but I have seen several built into what appeared to be original cabinets. I wonder if it was more common to redo the sinks on legs because cabinets became the norm...

Is this your kitchen?

We live in a 2-family house, but we use both upstairs and downstairs for ourselves. Too much of a bother to rent; we enjoy the extra space. Both floors have these sinks, on legs. I could enclose the underneath space, but would rather have the open look.

The picture I posted is from after renovations in downstairs kitchen. I like to strip off paint from woodwork and refinish the doors and windows. Lot of work, but results are great. The sink in the picture was professionally refinished with spray-on coating. Porcelain finish had been pitted.

Here's a picture of outside of house, after a snowstorm last year.

I'm a huge fan ...

... of white subway tile.

I'm in the planning stages of re-doing my Manhattan kitchen. White subway tile, floor to ceiling. Yellow ceiling. Keeping the existing white cabinets. Covering the dark hardwood floor with light yellow (more of a straw than a lemon) linoleum with matching straw yellow countertops. Solid copper sink. Orange retro fridge. White stove.
