Was brought up in another thread, but not as to hijack started another to get opinions.

Recall years ago P&G released a similar Downy product that was only around for a hot minute. Had one known it was going to be discontinued so fast would have stocked up.

In theory most all fabric softeners help with creasing, make ironing easier and so forth. Has anyone tried this new Downy and care to report findings?

Might be something useful for loads where one doesn't use starch (dress shirts, bed and table linen), but still iron.

Downy WrinkleGuard

I have been using it with great success. I tried it on my cotton percale sheets to see what it would do. A splash eliminated all normal creases and major wrinkles. This was with a warm rinse as well. It certainly is my favorite FS at the moment despite its price.

What brand is that front-load pair at the very end of the commercial?

Also: If commercial-world had child protective services, I would call them because the mom yanked that girl into the house in a most aggressive manner.

Having said that, I’m sold. It’s already on my shopping list. And I’m going to yank the bottle off the shelf in a very aggressive manner and throw it in the cart, LOL.

Is this a reinventing of Ultra Downy Advanced?

That was the product! Was racking my brain trying to recall what it was.

Had one blinked would have missed Downy Advanced, it wasn't on shelves long before being discontinued. Nor was there much inventory left around it seemed because have seen very little of it about afterwards.

Sort of makes one wonder what horrible things P&G discovered about the product that got it pulled so fast and completely. *LOL*

Commercial

Mother's "aggressive" snatching of her daughter away from the cute ginger seems out of concern he was or had done something he shouldn't with his date. Evidence of this was his wrinkled clothing.

OTOH she seems satisfied nothing went on subsequent date because the kid's clothes aren't rumpled. Though we get to see the lipstick mark that mother missed.

Such aggressive "yanking" of a daughter/sister/young woman is (and has been) fairly common both in media and life when a parent/guardian or whoever believes they are in moral danger. *LOL*

Comments on YT for this video are hilarious. But it does seem as if the young ginger actor (Josh) is becoming the next "it" thing.

I asked someone about this recently, and they told me it works a treat -- but the "anti-wrinkle" affect doesn't last an entire 24 hours, while wearing - like the bottle says. It does dramatically reduce wrinkles compared to Regular Downy.

Personally, I saw some at CVS months ago, and didn't like the scent at all. Found it very strong and sweet -- and didn't see unscented.

Unscented wont' launch until 24 September...

Haven't looked in the shops at any FS for ages (my stash is full, and don't use much of the stuff anyway), so not sure if local shops have either version.

I used Downy Advanced, worked nicely on shirts and jeans.

Have a sample saved, came with the Neppy TL IIRC.  May no longer be viable but don't want to open the package to check.

You know, I may just wait for the unscented version, too. I have a bottle of unscented Downy, which is noticeably thinner in consistency than regular Downy. It gets infrequent use because of the way I sort loads these days.

I only used fabric softener for bedding and shirts/pants/shorts. Some of my around-the-house shorts are mostly man-made fibers so they like to gather static and cling to everything else in the load.

However...I frequently wash sheets, shirts/pants/shorts, kitchen and personal whites in the same humungous load these days. I don't want fabric softener anywhere near kitchen whites, so none gets used for those loads--which do get a deep rinse.

Most other loads are medium-sized and get spray rinses, so can't use fabric softener on them, either.

The neighbors in the apartment behind me (we use the same laundry area) are in love with their scents. They use Downy Scent Beads in the wash, fabric softener in the rinse and a dryer sheet for good measure.  All lavender scented.  I can smell it in my apartment because our furnaces are in the same room as our washers, so the forced air heating and air-conditioning bleeds some of that into the apartments.  

 

They are a nice young couple and very clean/tidy, but boy howdy do they like the scents!  Aside: They have a small-tub Maytag Dependable Care washer, with its distinctive chug-chug-chug agitation sounds.

 

Here's another commercial for Downy WrinkleGuard that leads me to believe our young man's interests may extend beyond M'lady.

Much of the multiple and overbearing scent products nowadays is to combat the residual smutz/odor remaining after cold-water washing.

Scented Products

It's becoming awful.  Laundry detergents, deodorants, bar soaps, shampoos, trash bags, vacuum cleaner bags, dishwasher detergents...on and on.  The majority of people must approve but I am not one of them!

Bought a bottle of Downy WrinkleGuard Fresh scent a couple months ago.  Kinda expen$ive @ $6.94.

First use on a load of shirts yesterday.

There're little globules of product residue sticking inside the cap.  Adding hot water to the dosage in the cap and swishing didn't melt/flush the residue away.  Bad indication for residue potential in the machine.  :-(  But ... the diluted product didn't leave any appreciable residue in the dispenser cup (AquaSmart flushes the cup five times).

Very sweet resultant scent coupled with Persil liquid detergent.

Seems to have a noticeable and positive effect on the shirts.

Downy "wrinkle guard" seems to be moving rather well going by what one sees in local shops. Other versions on shelf are full, but Downy WG is either sold out or just a few bottles remaining.

Would love to have a go, but cannot justify purchasing another bottle of FS. Besides still having several bottles of Vernel rose scent haunting me (and slowly degrading), there's two gallon jugs of commercial product, two new bottles of Caldrea (plus two opened and want using), two canisters of Ecolab industrial/commercial laundry product, and almost full container of industrial/commercial laundry softener/sour.

So you can see am quite well stocked with FS, and likely would provoke the wrath if brought anything else into this house.
