Drain Hose Plumbing

This is how the current washing machine is plumbed in. Most washing machines come with very short hoses now so the standpipe is 2 ft away from the washer is that acceptable for good drainage? On the Bosch the drain hose comes up through the top of the cabinet whereas previous used to come through the bottom of the cabinet. Please see photo's.

Although it would be better if it did not have that bow in the middle which might in time lead to the hose pulling out of the pipe with the weight of the water.

What is not so good is that multi socket hanging unsupported, with what I presume is a washing machine and dishwasher both connected to it. I hope you are not attempting to run both together at once. Seriously, it is not good practice to connect a washing machine and or dishwasher to one of these at all, given the current draw for extended periods. If you have only a single socket there are plenty of conversion kits available (Wickes/B&Q) which easily allow you convert a single to a double without having to chase out the wall to accept a larger mounting box. One of these would be a LOT safer.

And whats with the hot water hose kinked back on itself?

Thanks for the reply VacBear58. I should add the red hose was a diy job done by my Dad but I told him to do it properly! Am going to do it myself just need a new t piece for a hot supply in case we ever have a hot fill connection to a washer again. The hot supply doesn't shut off on there as the red tab that closes it off broke off. I shall look at getting a double socket connected for the dishwasher and washing machine. Regarding the standpipe I may just get a swan neck and bring the pipe closer to the machine rather than having the bow in it. Be easier than fitting an extended hose as on new machines they come up through the top of the cabinet which I find rather odd. Are they like that on Miele washing machines too? Thanks.

the red tab that closes it off broke off

No need for a new tap or fitting, if you are not using it just close it by using a pair of pliers or grips to move the post, it only has to go through 90 degrees after all. Just make sure that when it feels like it is off, it actually is off, I have found on a number of occasions that these valves do not entirely shut the water off.

As the hose appears to be long enough I would just supply a bit more support for it, a couple of large hooks or even a couple of cable ties closed loosely (so you can thread the hose through) and secured to the underside of the work top should be fine. Don't forget that if you bring the waste pipe over anything sitting in front of it will stick out further than it might otherwise do.

I think (its a while since I looked at it) the hose from my Miele washer exits from the top of the machine
