I picked up a Kenmore Gas Dryer, the back of the drum has paint coming off. Is there a paint I could use to spray on to make it look better?

Any paint coming off will end up on your clothes or in the lint filter.

I personally would not paint a daily driver

I made sure to find a modern dryer with a SS drum (General Electric) just to avoid staining of the machine and peeling paint.

The drum paint in my daily driver '81 Kenmore 70 dryer completely wore off more than 15 years ago. No rust is present anywhere inside and no stains end up on any of the clothes. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it or bother with it.

I agree. Leave it be unless it just drives you nuts on how it looks...

BTW... It's really good to see you post again, Jay! I was just thinking about you...

DRYER DRUM FINISH

Drew and Dan are right my daily dryers are a 1978 WP mark 12 [ witch has lived on the screen porch for the past 10+ yrs] and a 1975 LK both gas dryers and neither have very much paint left on the drums and its never caused a problem. I have repainted many or at least touched up many dryer drums for cosmetic reasons and this has never caused a problem either. Buying unnecessary stainless steel is just enriching the chinese as most of the nickel is coming from there these days. A US built WP dryer will last aprox twice as long as a GE or for that matter a new Frigidare dryer. A new WP could last 30 to 40 years ask the guys who repair them.

Thanks to all

Thank you. To update you all. I have gone back to school, I started last Fall at Tech College. I am going for HVAC Tech. I have been working on washers and dryers, doing small repairs etc. I have a guy that does rentals and I find machines for him, clean them and check them out. I asked about the dryer as I know he will question the paint coming off. I will relay the message. Thanks RCD! I still havent gotten the Neptune put together, I sure do thank you for your help. You are a lifesaver.
