I have unfortunately had to purchase another DRYER as our Daily Driver, the 1965 Turquoise Kenmore, Her Motor simply QUIT.. Replaced everything, finally was told it was her MOTOR bearings...(would run shortly and then shut off and squeel when it got hot.....needs new or re-built MOTOR...what Should I do here? Would like some advice, are they available and where....anyone have one? ...THE NEW DRYER, I found at a used applince store...VERY Nice Kenmore 80 series WHITE>>>...Super Capacity Plus, drum is illuminated, and has 3 temps, 4 cycles, and wrinkle guard with buzzer....Quiet Pack>>>>>>Very Pleased with her performance and very fast, big drop down shelf door again, But MISS using the CLASSIC MISS KENMORE>>>>with the top area lit and her buzzer>>>>>>They wanted to haul her away, they had never seen anyhting like this dryer before...Don't even think of it, we will have it running again someday....(Tons of chrome and turquoise drop down door) A true classic and the motor was the original....46 Years old....never repaired. HELP...

1965 Kenmore Dryer Motor

Dave, thanks>>>It is round.....I am sure...It is back together and stored in the laundry area of our basement....but I am sure it was round and Scott will confirm this over the weekend, when I see him...He tears down and re-assembles for me...Very mechanical friend of 35 years.

1965 WP-KM DRYER MOTOR

Square motors weren't used until the 1966 WP-KM dryer came out with the fan mounted on the rear of the motor. The old round motor your dryer has may be able to be rebuilt or I have good used ones for $60. These early WP style dryers were neat machines but because of the airflow design they are a little slower than most other dryers and use about 25% more electricity than the later design, figure about 10 cents more pre load.

Motors

This past summer, I was going to try to save my parents 1968 Coldspot AC unit. It was having blower motor issues from what I could tell.

This is a "106" Whirlpool made unit. The motor was NLA according to Sears and WLP. However, with some digging, I found that Fasco actually had a motor available that would work and appeared to be a direct replacement. Would it last as long as your original---no, we all know that stuff was built to last!

Also, Johnstone Supply (who I believe was a Fasco dealer) listed my motor. The case on my AC unit was rusty, so I wound up scrapping the unit and bought a new Friedrich to replace it.

While the Friedrich is a nice machine, I miss my 100% made in the USA Coldspot......
