dryer sheets

Is it possible for a dryer sheet to quarter size spots on clothes on low heat. I know it is possible on high heat. I have tried the Snuggle dryer sheets. The spots look greasy looking and a bunch of them. I am hoping it is the sheet, if not the washer is leaking, and it's brand new. Any opinions??

What is your Washer Brand:

Hi! "amyswasher" is your Washer a Top-Load or Front-Load? Are the Spots light or darker in color? I would think if they were light color, then they might be from the Fabric Softener Sheets. If they are darker, then it might be something wrong with the Washer.

I haven't used Fabric Softener Sheets in a long time now, I prefer to use the Liquid Softener, besides it gets dispensed Automatically, in my LG Compact Combo. You might try using the Liquid Softener for a little while to see if you are still getting similar Spots on your Laundry. If you aren't, then it might be your Washer, if the Spots are not still on your Laundry, then it might have been the Fabric Softener Sheets.

If the Washer is new enough, I would recommend having a Repair Tech come out to check it out, to see what's wrong and hopefully remedy that problem for you, if it is the Washer.

How many sheets are you using at a time? I was at the laundromat the other day and some lady put in SIX sheets! She might as well have knitted a blanket from them. lol

The washer is a front loader. They look light grease in color, not like car oil. I only use one dryer sheet per load. I am trying this week without dryer sheets. I have always used Downy in the washer when I have a top loader. I've used bounce in the past with no problem. I guess I need to do experiments to see if I can figure out the problem. I just thought it was odd to have spots on clothes when the dryer was on low heat. Ooh, hope it's not the washer, but I will find out. Will Zote soap get out fabric softener spots. Well I got a lot of figuring out to do.

Never had a problem like that. An experiment would be to omit use of the sheets and see if the problem disappears.

My only motive in using dryer sheets is to prevent static cling. I am not trying to soften my clothes or impart a fragrance. I buy unscented sheets when available and tear them into thirds. I use only 1/3 sheet per load which is enough to eliminate static cling in a large load.

Dryer sheets contain a waxy substance which I suppose could deposit on clothes. They pose a danger to moisture sensors, because the wax can accumulate on them and decrease their ability to sense moisture---leading to longer drying times and wasted energy. I use rubbing alcohol to clean my moisture sensor once every three months or so.

Zote

Hey Amy, I think Zote might do the trick, but if you need something stronger I have a local place that produces lye soap. It will remove ANY grease; as long as your clothing can handle it. I've used it on just about any natural fiber. If ya need some, email me and I'll send you a bar.

The only reason I started using dryer sheet is because the Downy wasn't working well. I guess the washer spins more water out of the clothes, so most of the Downy goes down the drain. The clothes were very staticy. Dryer sheets got rid of the static. I will see the week whether the dryer sheet are the culprit or not.

Humidity

I had this problem a while back with my Duet. The washer would spin the clothes too dry. There was no softener left in them. Then, I used some dryer sheets and found that after the dryer stopped, the dryer sheet still felt real waxy like it hadn't been used. I don't think there was enough moisture in the dryer to activate the softener properly in the dryer sheet. I had to go back to liquid softener and reduce my spin speed for the things to soften back up.
