Jamie (chromacolor) recently brought home a very nice 1967 RCA Whirlpool dryer from a thrift/consignment store near his hometown. He brought it over last Friday night and we did a little vacuuming, polishing and replaced the dial light and it works beautifully!

This is a two speed dryer - on Super Speed, it runs as any WP dryer would, 5600 watts and full air-flow. On Gentle Speed, it runs at 4600 watts and a small damper partially blocks the air-flow inside the duct before the fan. The temperature is controlled with a hydraulic thermostat (just like an oven) at the exhaust port that is extremely accurate and likely does help keep the temperature at an even level which would speed drying. It also has an infinite temperature selector - very flexible!

My great grandma has almost this exact dryer! I used to think it was scary when I was little, I was intimidated by the size of the control panel! She uses it once a month when she does her load of towels, everything else gets hang dried! Unfortunately, the matching washer died long long ago, she now has a DD Whrilpool suds saver! (And she uses the water all day too! That's 8 loads of laundry!!!)

Hi,
Rich, I lucked out on this dryer as it was pretty much in this shape "as found". When I feel more energetic I will wax it. (Where is Jubilee?!) The main dryer knob is pretty worn, but I have one coming from eBay so will replace that when it comes. This was found in a "thrift" shop in Oakland,NE. that I go to when I visit my parents. I got this dryer for the whopping sum of TEN dollars. They have some good deals. I buy ALL my clothes there as well. This is also the shop where Greg got all of those vacuums.
Mark, Greg looked and altho there is a strip of plastic where a light would shine thru there was NO light installed when we took the back off. Perhaps Whirlpool only installed the light on TOL models? Greg didn't think it would be hard to install one tho. It's got the space for it, but Whirlpool didn't install one on this model.

Well Jamie, of course you have to have Greg help you install that light, we must have our console lights!! LOL Hope that you are doing great!!

When Jamie brought the dryer over to play with, the sticky residue and outline of a sticker still remained on the control panel (over the Moisture Minder logo) and I instantly recognized it as being one of these. I bought these on ebay several years years ago - from the 70's!

Simply beautiful dryer.
I ran into a similar one at an estate sale last year, in blue no less, and didn't get it. I'm still kicking myself over that one.
