I have a friend that is living in Usa. He knows i,m interrested in washing machines. He had a machine there in Usa that he took to me so i can wash with it. He said it was a great machine. He even changed the power surge or whats it called inside so it would work here in Sweden. The machine in question is a Whirlpool Duet (se pic after text)

It did work the first weeks, even if it does a racket when it spins. It even moves a bit. I know it doesn´t stand on the pedistal, but i heard it doesn´t matter.

Now for the problem. It washes a while and then a code comes up and everything stops. It´s the code: F/06. What does this mean? Is it repariable. Anybody?

Error code F/06 means "drive tachometer error".The control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the machine will shut down. If a failure occurs during high speed spin the door will be unlocked after 3 min. It says to check wire harness connections between the drive motor/tachometer and the motor control unit (MCU) and between the MCU and the central control unit (CCU).Also check drive motor, MCU and wire harness. Hope this helps!

Is it just me,

or are the Duet and clones looking less reliable as time goes on?

If I were buying (horrors!) a new fl, I think I'd try to find a close out Fridgemore. ("Horrors" for new, not fl.)

I have regularly seen FridGEmores at the Sears Scratch-n-dent outlets for around $400-$500 depending on features and condition. I had a friend buy one there before. It think that's a pretty good deal on them!

I still like the looks of the Duets though. They look very futuristic and space-age. They have some cool colors too

Try to un-plug the machine overnight. I don't really know what this does, but I had the same problem and Brent Aucion (A member of the club) told me to try it and it worked. Good Luck.

Congratulations on your Duet! If this is not carrying coals to Newcastle; a machine made in Europe for the USA market and electrical supply shipped here and then converted so that it could be used back in Europe, nothing is. Nonetheless, vibration during spin is usually one of two things: the feet or the floor. All of the leveling feet must firmly rest on, not just touch, the floor and the lock nut between each leveling foot and the base of the machine must be firmly tightened with a wrench. If that is done and you still have vibration, it is most likely the floor under the machine. People have better luck with front loaders on concrete floors or on floors that are up to commercial building standards of construction. Best of luck.

Ok i unplugged the machine and now it seems to work again. I checked the feets to see if it was levered right. i Tightened the feets a little bit also and it doesn´t vibrate as much as before.

I find it strange that a such new machine seems to have so much problems. My Hoover Keymatic hasn´t had much problems and the few it actually had was our fault. You know: coins in the pump and such. Also my girl had washed Those Bh´s in it too. Bad idea. I told her so and she hasn´t done that after that.

And also, i have a dishwasher from 1965. It´s a General Electric SD 420 s. Its the one with 4 programs, not a mobile one. Only problem is that it leaks a little bit, but not much. Of course the sound is pretty high also, but who cares?

Let's see if I understand this correctly: You have an American friend who brought a washer to you in Sweden? That's amazing. Next time, tell him you are interested in the Mercedes Benz S-class car!

Good luck with your repair!

The friend buyed the machine for himself but for some reason he wasn´t very happy about the machine. He said it washed good, but i saw in his face he maybe wasn´t that satisfied with it. I,ve heard that its common that these machines smells mold. This one doesn´t. I also had heard that the motherboard is placed at a bad place in the machine so it shorts easily. Dont know if this is true.

I dont think he would buy a car because they are way more expensive. The machine was not very expensive. There are some damages on the backside so it was cheaper than it otherwise would have been.

Those Buestenhalter wires will cause no end of trouble in laundry appliances. It is true that you have had a funny code from the Duet, but the vibrations during spin might have contributed to that. And, you have to consider that the Duet is a lot more complicated than the Keymatic. So, does your Duet fill with hot water and just heat to 155F on the Sanitary cycle, or was it converted to heat water like the Mieles or Askos? I am very impressed by your ambition to acquire appliances from our market.

Where does the dishwasher leak? Is it around the door, or from underneath? If it is a pump seal leaking, it is going to corrode or rust something or ruin the motor. GE dishwashers have trouble with leaks around the shaft of the drain valve.

The machine is made so it fill with hot water. It needs to be on both Hot and Cold water. If you don´t have it on hot water, my guess is that it warms the water anyway, but it takes longer time. I read a few things on epinions and it seems many has problems with this washer. And the electronic motherboard i told about: It says its placed in the bottom of the machine. A few cm from the drain pump. Clever or ehum, not.

Of course i know there is difference between this machine and the Keymatic. One can wonder how long todays machines are supposed to work.

The dishwasher leaks from the door. There is a little bit rust there. This dishwasher has not Stainless steel at all. The leak is so little i just have a soft little carpet there. After about 3 washes its time to wring the carpet.

Ah, so very true i checked. I know why it was said the board was at the bottom. On SOME of the early Duets they placed the electronic board there, but according to my source that told me, it didnt work good so they placed it on the top right, just like you said.

The source that told me wanted to be anonymus so any wrong things said about it is better forwarded by me, so to speak. I think he is a member here, but dont know for sure.
