My aunt's Duet threw an F06 E02 fault code a couple days ago -- communication failure between the UI and CCU.  The door wouldn't unlock.  She followed the user guide suggestions to no immediate fruition but it did unlock after a while.  She said the drum seems to have more "drag" then usual when rotated.  It powers-on and all the selectors work but she's leery to run it now for further issues, asked me to investigate (1 hr 20 mins drive), which I'm going there on Wed.  I'm hoping it's a one-off glitch and reseating the harness connectors will ward-off further occurrence.  I'm asking if anyone here has had a similar experience.

Parts diagrams and service manual indicates the control panel has a board at the right side for the options buttons, which ties to a separate UI board for the rotary cycle selector, which plugs into the CCU board.  The panel and UI board are NLA (for a 6yo machine!) but the CCU board is available.

On occasion my Duet refuses to spin at high speed for the final spin. It generally is resolved by unplugging the machine for a few hours and plugging it back in later on. There is a diagnostic test that will tell you if the CCU and MCU are communicating, but it is different than the one for my older machine. As you had said, it is always good to unplug and plug back in all of the connectors just to make sure that they aren't causing the issue from vibrating loose etc. From what I understand some of the newer direct drive machines have had issues that require the replacement of the stator. I'm not sure what the symptoms were though. Good luck and keep us updated.
 
Those motor control boards on the earlier DD Duets looked like to be nothing but problems with capacitors blowing and failing. Makes me wonder if that was the reason WP got rid of the motor control board after the early models of the DD front loaders and have been kept out even in the newer units today.
 
They still have basicly simmilar MCUs, and as far as I know, they still are seperate boards, just way simpler by now.

A DD motor can't run without a MCU that takes the AC and converts into DC and then switches it to simulate variable frequency AC.
It's just that those are electronics having to switch pretty high loads at pretty high frequencys (like, probably far higher 50hz mains) and can easily fail if underrated.

Check for the corrsponding part on the front of the boards, burn marks often look horrible but are only surface burns caused by component failure.
If you are handy with a soldering iron, you often can replace those components yourself.

Other wise check EBay or Google in general, there a dozens of buisnesses who do those specific board repairs on the cheap.
 
 
I didn't get pics of the failed board but found these and doctored them to indicate the burned area, on the backside re: one of the components covered by a large heatsink.

A replacement is on order.

That's... bad

That is the main switching component, dunno what exactly they use for that, but replacing us unreasonabke to impossible there.
But might just be one of the resistors on there as well...

Before putting the new one in check that all connectors are well seated, that tub moves freely, etc. etc.
Not that you new one goes the sane way immediatly...
 
 
Aunt Rita is using her sister-in-law's machine while waiting for repair.  It's an HE-impeller TL of some brand.  I asked how'd her HE toploader loads come out?  She said "I guess clean but very wrinkled.  I used normal setting for lighter weight whites.  When I saw how wrinkled I used casual on darks & still very wrinkled.  On my washer for 'wearables' I use Quick Wash and 1 speed from top for spin.  Much less wrinkled."
 
 
This is the aunt who had a 1969 SQ pair, SQ was big in their town.  Then they changed the washer to a belt-drive WP w/the SQ dryer.  Then the 2002 Norge-tag pair.  Now the 2012 Duet pair.

They didn't originally have a DW, got a KDI-17 (no a), followed by another KA Imperial, and currently another KA (2007).  They were the first in the family to have a microwave (Litton).

Original cooktop and wall oven were GM Frigidaire.  Then they had a JennAire cooktop (which is stored in their attic last I heard) and I don't recall what kind of oven.  Now a 2007 KM/(WCI) set-in (on which I replaced the main control board in January).
