Probably a vacuum cleaner shop would have both the cloth bag and the retrofit paper bags. I'm amazed how many vacuum cleaner shops are around my neighborhood. Which is good since they're the only places that have the Type N bags for my Hoover Porta-Power and the bags for my Kirby G4. They usually repair lamps, too
 
Major update

Ok, went out to my Imperial, which in my tiny garage, it takes quite alot of work to get to the trunk in back. You would have to see it to believe it.

First off, a check of the unit in its new home, the laundry room closet, showed me that I had all the accessories there, except for the big floor attachment and the moth? filter thing whateveritis. I was also missing the original duster "ball" we were just talking about.

I found the floor attachment and the mothball thing, but then decided to go back and dig a little deeper. I found the duster, then unbelievably, the bag! I must have had it all along, the unit opened up in the trunk at some point, and it fell out. Now it sounds kind of familiar, but I really didn't remember it.

Now this is interesting. Take a look at what is written on the bag. Did they all come this way, or do I have some bizarro salesdemo unit all the way down the line?

Help me out folks, what is with this inscription???!!!
 
Kevin, very nice vac and love the display holder. Ok I'll chastise you seeing as no one else will.. what the H are you hiding it in the closet and car trunk for.. it's supposed to be out on display!.
Did you see the vac pic I posted a bit ago, that was a vac I know you could fix in the bat of an eye. Great match for the SH washer when you find one. It's about 3ft tall and fully functional, well the beater bar doesn't turn but it lights up and sucks.

"Bojack" is a term used in the vacuum business that refers to a replacement part that is not "genuine." When you get bags for almost any vacuum, you can get bojack, meaning it was manufactured to fit the vacuum but not made by the original manufacturer, or you can get genuine.

Not only are there bojack bags, but almost all parts are available as bojack for most vacuums. Parts for new vacuums are usually genuine as not enough time has passed to make the bojacks yet and some vacuums, like the Dyson are still unique AND new that only Dyson parts are available. Plus, the manufacturers may still have patents/copywrites, etc. on the vacuum so bojacks may not be available for a long time.

I hope this answers your question and makes sense.

My 11 year old son said the same thing, why are we not displaying this thing.

You're all right. For now, I will keep it in the closet. 2 year old Tristan is way into things and the pieces will all disappear. I had it on display in the dining room, where the picture was took, in the old house for a while, but I kept bumping into it. The Imperial trunk sounds bad, but I figured it was out of the way there.

Eventually, it might look good tucked down a hall against the wall somewhere on display, have not thought much about it or where it would look good. Obviously, this would have to be after a nice cleaning.

No one YET has had anything to say about the bag with the writing on it.

THOUGHTS??!!!!
 
Electrolux bag

I'm guessing it is some kind of promotional thing since it could have been part of a salesman's kit. The genuine Lux cloth bags I seen, to the best of my memory, never had any writing on them other than Electrolux and the company's corporate address.

Maybe the Lux 30 owners out there could pull out there bags and take a look. I know Fred N. has one in his basement. Check it out Fred and please let us know!
 
On top of that...

The bag is slightly dirty, but not dirty like you think it would be. IN other words, it does not look like it was used tons, for years and years.

I might--get this--VACUUM out the inside of the bag and see how it cleans up :-)

It looks like some dust on the surface inside, almost as if some vacuuming would produce an inside about the same as the outside of the bag, with no further cleaning to reach that state.

It was almost as if this woman got the sales demo unit and either never used it or used it very slightly.

The original wall brush (round one, not sure if that is the wall brush) is actually highly worn out and slightly broken away in the middle...makes me think that is why she got the white replacement one. Was she planning on using this when she inherited it but scrapped the idea? Why is the round one so worn when the other parts are not.

Mysterious and fun indeed.

Keep in mind that maybe she lost the original round brush and this may be a replacement and maybe she didn't even know someone else replaced it!

If you want to make that 30 smell better on the exhaust end, take it outside, remove the bag and front cover plate and let it run about 15-30 minutes outside. That helps blow out the crud from the increased air flow. You can also hand wash the bag in really well diluted Woolite and let it air dry. That will have you smelling good on the exhaust end!
 
Yes, you have to wash those cloth bags, they're full of stink. I did my Kirby bags in the bathtub, still with the sani emptor attached, a little bit of ABC and a Snuggle Rinse.. just like new with a fresh scent too.
 
Your vac should clean up nicely Kevin. There pretty simple to work on. Here`s a pic of my first one.
 
Lux 30 Bags

Dr. Mitch - How did you get that 30 so beautiful? I am going to have to polish mine up with the buffing wheel. Where did you get the upper bumper on the rug tool? Those buggers stretch out and get stiff and you can't get them anywhere. Per Charlie's request, I am showing my 30 open with the bojack cloth bag and paper bag. I really like these paper bags to avoid getting the cloth bag gunked up. With this picture is a genuine replacement bag (no lettering) with the original packing. In addition is the original after-filter with packaging. Sometimes these after filters are the cause of the bad suction. People don't know they are in there, behind the front removeable cover.
 
White dusting and floor brushes

Here is a restored aluminum white dusting brush, a later white wall brush, and what I think was the last white brush, grey plastic, to go with the Silverado.

What did you use for cleaning?

I was going to use a vinyl cleaner and conditioner on the vinyl type material, and my old standby chrome polish and tooth brush on the plated and chromed areas.

Alternative suggestions?
 
Don I must add my complements that xxx is just beautiful. You must have used a ton of elbow grease to get that beautiful shine. Good pointer Fred about the after filter they can cause a reduction in suction as well as a unpleasnat order. Terry

I haved seen a lot of lux 30s in my day and I must say yours is one of the finest. Did you have to do much of a restoration yourself? And if you did, share the secrets!

That is a beautiful Electrolux 30. Probably the best I have ever seen. What else do you have?
 
It`s a good pic ok! Digital cameras sometimes make things look better thn they are. I use a 6' cotton buff on a bench grinder and a jewelers rouge. Its cast aluminum so if youve got a bad place you can sand it out with diffrent grades of paper and repolish. This one had a couple of dings in the tank but I was able to work them out from the inside.Finish up with mothers chrome polish. This one had the later blue cover and cleaned and armoralled it looked good. On an older one I the cover was very dry and I sprayed a clear finish to revive it. Just clean a little, step back and look at it and clean some more! Good luck all!

We had one just like the third from the left, wonder if my dad still has it. I can remember him taking it apart and working on it several times. You all do incredible work!
