Does "Dial-A-Matic" mean the clutch used on Dyson DC07 vacuum cleaners?these are not normally sold out-you have to have the dealer replace the clutch belt assembly. Its an assembly that contains the roller brush ratchet clutch and the drive belt.Special fixtures are required to remove-replace it in the vacuum. The fixtures are provided by Dyson to Dyson authorized dealers or servecenters.I have seen the process once-and it is involved. If you don't have the Dyson tools-even if you have the clutch asembly you really can't replace it.

NO

My USER NAME is Dial-A-Matic but i am trying to find how a clutch works-im not in need for a clutch unless someone has a broken one they would like to sell me, but thanks anyway

Sorry-had my head in the transmitter as I wrote the earlier entry.Sorry for the mistake.Anyway the clutch protects the motor and belt if the roller brush should become jammed from picking up that sock that likes to hide under the bed.The clutch makes the loud "ratchet" sound if the brush is jammed-that signals the operator the brush is jammed and the vacuum should be stopped to prevent damage to the clutch. If the clutch is run too long when the brush is jammed-the clutch will wear out quickly. You might be able to get a bad one from a Dyson dealer if you make good freinds with them and know the person that runs it.The unit has a geared belt along with the clutch unit.New clutches areabout $60 each.
