early 1980 bendix

hey guys,my first post!new to this site.was just wondering if anybody has any pics or vids of an early 1980s bendix?it had a square door with 2dials on the right hand side,1 for the temp and 1 for the programme.if i remember correctly(i was only ickle!!)it had 2lights,1for door locked and 1 for the heater as well as a spin reduction button to take it from 800rpm to 500rpm.

Hi there and welcome to the club.

There were a few models around that time but I think the most popular was probably the 7147. My mum got one in 1981 and it was her first automatic machine. Stunning machine and well built with a very large quiet induction motor.

Heres a pic of the 7147. Many people have other pictures and pictures of the other models around at the time so you won't be dissapointed.

hi there welcome to the forum, do i take it you are in newport,south wales or pembrokeshire? I am in cardiff, and have only recently joined up myself. Whist I'm no authority on bendix and philco,( I'm more a Hoover man, though to be truthfull I can enjoy and appriciate most vintage brands) I do have an early bolt down bendix, which I love for all it's mechanical parts. I did do a few repairs, many years ago on the square door, and laundry centres, Door boots, interlocks pumps,that sort of thing, they were always strong well built
machines, I remember holding the start switch in just to test for leaks waiting for it to imulse round to rinse and spin.

Sorry I can't supply any pictures etc, but I hope you are enjoying this site, and the wealth of knowledge out there.
