Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Yup

This seems to happen everytime I find a machine on Craigslist. There's another person on here who did the same thing. He posted two never-used Kenmores on Craigslist. I posted about it on here and, all of the sudden, they want at least $1,000 for something that had little worth to them before. I noticed they are back on Craigslist again too several months later. Really too bad.

Hey Jon keep up the good work with these posts, I for one am happy someone is on top of this. About half of the machines I own came from other states and involved shipping but it was worth it.

Situation 1: Person is trying to sell a machine on Craigslist for $50. Someone (possibly from this site) emails him and says "Wow, that's a great machine. You should check out automaticwasher.org. Someone there would LOVE to get their hands on that one! Seller checks out website and suddenly decides he should raise his price to $500.

Situation 2: An auction on eBay is offering some pastel colored washer/dryer set. People start emailing seller about auction, claiming that is their "dream set", and "what I wouldn't give to have that". Of course these comments show up at the bottom of the auction and anyone that reads them now thinks there's a goldmine in their basement. Remember the $2K Maytag set? All this attention given the sellers only makes them think they have something that is worth more than it is. There's nothing wrong with alerting us when there's something interesting on Craigslist or eBay that one of us may be interested in. The issue is when people start emailing the sellers, drooling all over the place, even if you have no intention of buying it anyway. Just leave the sellers alone and let the person who is serious about the purchase deal with them.

Well, whatever the case

I doubt these machines will be out in the alley like the ad said...

Still I wonder about the email he got and how he found this place. There's been some strange goings on over on the vacuum site with regards to certain individuals stalking it, the same thing could be happening here.
Some people ain't happy until they make everyone else miserable.

Keith~

"then why are you posting machines from different states on here, are you that bored?"

I don't think it is a factor of Jon being bored Keith. I just think he is trying to be helpful to other club members who may have an interest in these machines. I think that is very considerate of Jon to do that.
Thats what we all try to do on AW.Org, help each other.

You're exactly right. That's why I do it. If it's something that I can't have then I at least feel good knowing someone from here could have it. I'm a rather busy person so I'm hardly bored. That was a pretty mean way of putting it I think.

I love you, Jon

You are one of the best Gentlemen we have. You're kind to everyone. Because of what you and Laundress do, two rare, and long longed-for, machines came my way, very inexpensively.

I just shook my head in disbelief at how the best people get attacked while the worst are never challenged.

And while I was itching to go after the rude queen, I was afraid to because now that Robert is closing down Automatic Washer, we'll all have no where to go but Vacuumland, hoping that wonderful Fred will welcome us there.

You're the best, Jon, and I'm not alone in thinking so. Giant warm bear hugs to you, my friend.

Thanks so much for the kind words! Because of you I got a really cool mini-basket for my machine. That was so very nice of you! So which machines did you get? You know I sit around so bored all the time and I see thousands of them all over the world. Which ones did you get? :-)

Believe me it does make me feel good to help someone out!

Pumper, read the PAY DIRT thread

Jon, A mint Hoover Twintub never used with minimal rust on the cabinet and a Glorious Norge Behemoth Semi-automatic Wringer, also never used.

And you know what else you're getting: a fabric softener dispenser for your turquoise/green GE.--just because I want you to have it. Also, the truth is painful: I rarely use it, I know how much you wanted it, and it WILL fit; I checked.

Good news on the dispenser...I just got one this weekend! I went to Mark's warehouse and he had a couple of them. I bought a few other great parts too. Thanks so much for thinking of me though! That's really sweet! So hang onto that dispenser because, even though you may not use it, it's still nice to have all the parts.

By the way, I did see a Hoover portable dryer in the warehouse in coppertone. I don't know if it's Mark's or not or if it's even for sale, but you may check that out. I may be going back there in a few weeks to pick up a few more things so if you need it let me know.

Jon

thank you, Jon

Mark e-mailed me that he'd be there between Christmas & New Year. I'd love to go. Maybe, I could fly to Alexadria and ride to the warehouse with you if you have room.
