Was looking at a home with my aunt and saw this Philco in the basement and to my surprise when I opened it a light was working and a blast of cold air hit my feet! I've never seen a basement fridge from this era actually be working...

Now I'm no expert on vintage refrigerators but I feel pretty confident this is original to the house from 1961, it matches the kitchen perfectly.

Lots of old fridges still work.

I'm still using my Grandmother's 1954 Crosley as a pop fridge.
My sister got a Philco much like that one when she bought her house in the 1980s. Worked great.
Here in Chicago I've run into Philco fridges quite frequently. My grandparents and my first two workplaces had Philco refrigerators.
I sure wish I had my sister's Philco. It had a cool snowflake motif embossed in the door. It went with the house. Oh, well....

My cousin's in-laws still have their first refrigerator in daily use in their kitchen.  It's a 1954 Frigidaire.  Wish I had a photo of it.
