Easy on E Bay

Model SCM

Just bought the same machine yesterday. Fairly close to home in a city west of Cleveland. $100. Been looking for one for a while and the stars aligned on this one.

It works and does not leak. Has a few issues that need addressed but nothing major.

I'm a happy camper!

Easy

A good friend had mentioned that he had an old washer without a wringer in his attached barn. Curious, I wanted to see it and it was this same Easy, BUT his wife had drove her SUV into the wash tub and cracked the wash tub bad . Disappointed, I said it may be salvagable for parts as the tub was beyond repair. She decided to get the kids to drag it out for the town cleanup and someone got it. Some people just dont get it.

I'm happy for anyone finding a classic Easy. Though I prefer the handle clutches to the knob ones, and those pre-jet-age chrome strips around the tubs. )

easy won't drain

I have a classic easy (lever clutch handles and chrome racing stripes). Cannot get
the thing to drain - pump/belt are spinning freely. Anyone have any ideas?

Those machines are the MOST fun to use.

I love mine.

As for the draining issue, it's bound to be a problem in the linkage that opens the drain. Make sure it is connected and working freely. There are valves inside the pump that open -- one for the wash side and one for the spinner. It's a simple mechanism.

Certain models (Grandma's handle model did) had a ball valve on the drain hose, had to be open for water to come out. Purpose was so you could fill the spin tub without switching the handle which would have drained the wash tub long as the motor was on.

My Panasonic (1973) got around that with a standalone pump that switched off when you weren't draining anything.
