ebay and paypal users be careful

hey all i just had a nice conversation with the people at both ebay an paypal. it seems that hackers are trying to get into anyones ebay and paypal accounts by sending spoof emails. being that i went through all this two years ago i thought it might be a good idea to warn everyone. if you get an email from what you think is ebay or paypal saying you have done something you know you havent done be careful. those emails will have links on them that will direct you to a site that looks ligit but will start to ask you for personal info. dont give out the info. if you think you have a problem with either ebay or paypal i have a phone numbers that you can actully talk to someone but they both said its a good idea to change your passwords every few weeks. i was burned very badly two years ago by a hacker and dont want anyone to have to go through anything like that. so if i can help anyone let me know just mail me direct at [email protected]

I get these every once in a while. It is called "phishing". What you will notice when one is sent to you, is they say something like "Dear Paypal member" or "Dear ebay member". If you have a legitimate account with say Paypal, they will address you by name in any emails. Contact the legitimate company in question and forward the bad email to them.

I remember receiving one saying they were my ISP. They were having trouble with my Credit card and had to suspend my acct. If I filled out the info, I would be back and running again. What was funny was I was on the internet at the time, when I received it. How was my acct suspended if I was on the internet. I remembered also that billing cycle was not for a few more weeks. I then contacted my ISP and forwarded the email. They then sent out a warning to all of their user.

I am glad that this is finally coming to the attention of the general public. I have seen more and more about it on the news.

This is a major problem and growing. Paypal and ebay are not the only companies used. I have been contacted by them; posing as banks also.

I received one today from "ebay".I filled it out,but with completely different info than they requested.Someone's going to get an eyeful,to say the least!
