Looks good, Steve. Just beware of scammers. I've sold quite a few things on ebay with no problems. However, I just sold my travel trailer and had some problems. Watch out for emails asking to trade you for another item. It is a scam from Russia, most likely. I was drowsy one morning when I got one of these emails. It provided a link to an ebay page & it asked for my password to see the item. I foolishly entered my username & password. I didn't pay close enough attention to the address of the potential "tradeable" item. The email came from a legitimate user name. He was scammed & didn't even know his account was taken over until I notified ebay. It was a phishing site that perfectly spoofed a legit ebay page. I should have noticed a .ru in the address, but like I said, I was drowsy & didn't pay attention. I usually never fall for this shit. Fortunately, the little voice inside my head (the good one, not those "other" voices) told me I just f'ed up. I quickly went in & changed my password before the scammers could. I was lucky. later that day, they tried to take over my account, but I had already headed them off. Just beware & good luck. I did real well with the sale.

OK, the FIRST THING I would do is remove my phone number and address out of the auction listing. Why?

You are opening yourself up for crank phone calls and scammers. Once they start, it's too late. There are a LOT of nutty people out there, you don't need to attract them. Believe me, I know!

What I would do is insert a line stating that you would be happy to answer any questions by phone if the interested parties would send you an e-mail you would be delighted to call THEM.

I would change the following:

Garage Kept always to Always Garaged or Garage Kept
Leather and cloth seats to Leather seats with Cloth inserts
Town Car Cartier to Town Car Cartier Edition
smelss to smells
very excellent shape to possibly outstanding shape for it's age

If you have any maintenance paper work on the car's history mention it. People are willing to pay more for that.
You did take the right kind of photos. Best of luck with your auction!

Great looking car!

In addition to the items already mentioned, you should change "Sunroof" to "(Power) Moonroof" (that's what Ford calls them), and you need to get rid of the apostrophe in "it's." Possessive pronouns don't have apostrophes.

My Great Grand Parents had the cheaper Mercury Grand Marquis, same year... It was destroyed in an accident in 1999, whish my family been able to hang on to it as it would have become my first car..It was blue with a grey half landu top, bought at palm beach lincoln mercury. Was an LS model with power seat, cruise, pwoer options, a/c and an am/fm radio.. Had no seat belts in the rear seat either! Blue crushed velour seats.. Had 50K when it was destroyed. It even had fuel injection if i recall and was the 5.0 V8... Boy i miss that car

Now that is a nice auction listing! Very clear and easy to understand. Watch that price go up now!
I've been doing Ebay on and off since 1999. I have broken some records for some of the stereo equipment I have sold there. All you have to do is think out your auction ahead of time and include as much information as you have on hand. If you include the history of the item being auctioned people like that too and will bid more.

Now even though this is not Ebay, here are a few examples of horrible sales adverts. This first one is so bad, I was more confused after reading it than I was before I did! The guy who is selling this car used photos of the car from 10 years ago! The car has been in garage storage for quite some time. Geesh, if you are selling something at least use good English!

Bad advertising

Whirlcool, that reminds me of a time I was driving behind an old pickup truck with a topper on it. In the back window was a hand-lettered sign that said, "Free Estimates," and gave a phone number. There were no other signs anywhere else on the truck.

I wanted to call up and get a free estimate, but I was afraud if what might be getting into.

Miniature tires

Yeah, just when I catch up, the fad changes.

It doesn't matter. It RUINS the car. Using wrong size tires, installing aftermarket stereos, etc just kills it. Makes it harder for restorers to bring it back to original.

Most of the time it's pretty easy to change out strange options that people have installed on their cars.
It's when they start cutting the car (roof chopping, low rider installs, odd seat replacements, etc.) that is especially bad. Then it is extremely difficult to restore the car back to it's original shape, if at all.

I have seen many a classic botched up by kids with Sawzall's having a field day!

Good luck with the sale! I have bought and sold a few cars on ebay and have been quite pleased with the results.

I once had an 88 Town car. Quiet, smooth but look out in the snow. I never did hit anything but it was hard to control in bad weather.
