The above linked Reuter's article also says:
"Further changes eBay said it would make include...and requiring sellers to include at least one electronic payment method."
They got it wrong. It's not that they're going to require at least one form of electronic at all. They're going to institute a 100% electronic checkout, and checks and money orders will NO LONGER BE ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF PAYMENT for shipped goods! How's that grab ya???!!!! This little item doesn't show up on the screen unless you scroll down at least another full page!
If you have your own merchant account to accept credit cards, buyers can be directed to it. The only other alternatives will be PayPal and ProPay! I wonder if they're looking into buying ProPay, who boasts that they're, "the first, and currently only, company to partner with eBay as an integrated payment provider other than eBay-owned PayPal."
Where will it stop? When they have the monopoly? The tried to make PayPal the only form of payment available on Australian eBay, and they were shot down by the court.
More and more restrictions on the sellers. One day they'll add one too many pieces of straw to the camel's back!
