Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

That last Servis twin tub that was posted is not actually made by Servis, it is a cheap and tacky twin tub with the Servis badge and design from then 90's. Don't be fooled, it's crap apparently.

Placed a bid on the Servis Compact seeming as it is so local, wish me luck!

(Seems like this is going to be another expensive month lol)

Tacky Servis...

I do believe you will find if you read the advert for the " Tacky Servis " Twin tub it does state its made by Velo in Holland.

I am not in the habit of trying to mislead people and attempt to sell them something that is not 100% genuine.

And yes I feel somewhat offended it is my ad.

Austin

I very nearly bought one of those Servis twin tubs brand new from a Kays catalogue (I think it was Kays) in 1998/9. I opted for the Servis h-axis top loader instead which, IIRC, was the same price.

Hi Austin,

I had no intention of offending you by using the words cheap and tacky, it was just an opinion of the machine itself and yes I should have read the advert but alas I wasn't interested so I didn't click the link. I just remembered the discussion about these machines and I thought I would warn any of our younger or slightly naive members here that it isn't vintage. No need to be offended I am sure it will sell.

James.

James I thank you ...

for getting that across I am not offended now I have calmed down. I hope to sell the machine to make some room I am running out of space. I had not bothered to even mention it on AW as I appreciate most have better taste. I am hoping the ebay ethos is on my side and whats my scrap is anothers gold.

Keep them crossed.

Austin

"To make some room"

I am doing the exact same thing as you right now, I am selling my Hotpoint WD61 now that it is made redundant because I have got my WD23. You have so many nice machines so why not treat yourself to another twin tub when you get rid of the Servis or maybe even venture into vintage automatics! :)

James.

Treat myself to a

divorce too, I think another machine would be the end I have 12 twin tubs a Servis compact with wringer a Hoover twosome as well as an AEG update all in the shed I hate to think what will happen when we move house !!!

Talking of Velo Servis

I asked Neil if he still had the same washer and he said no, he had given it to his cousin 2 years ago who had just had a baby and unlike most mums was using eco terry towelling nappies...

It has been used nearly daily for the last two years boil washing and sterilising the eco nappies, he said the only thing wrong is a little flaking of paint on the top - just goes to show you never can judge a book by its cover - lasting longer than a lot of modern washers...

TT in Post 23

Like to see how much this sells for, it looks mint, if it is I could see it making that sort of money. I sell high end vintage and anything mint can triple the price or even more.

Servis Twinnie

I know that some people do not have a high opinion of the Servis Twinnie that Austin has just sold, I think it has rather a nice retro look - somewhat like the Rolls machines of the early 1960s. But how DOES it (or the later Velo version) perform? I have seen Mike's very interesting video of the drive mechanism, be interesting to know how well it washes

Servis Twinnie

washed as well as most twin tubs the one I sold was a good washer and the spin would rival a hotpoints.

Austin

Hi Al,

I always thought the same, really liked the styling when I first saw it advertised in the Grattan supplement, very retro and tried to order one, but I was told the first batch of 400 machines had been sold and they were awaiting another batch, presumably from Velo.
I wonder if the wash action is the same as the big square Turbo twintub ? My mate had one of those and got rid of it.
I think this servis model was 1101. I was lucky enough to get a user manual from Servis.

Velo Servis...

They both washed really well and the fact that Neils is washing terry nappies for 2 years says it all really, the square tub Norfrost had a slightly larger capacity and seemed to have a more robust wash action with the washing being forced into the corners of the tub and out again...

The spin was super fast and very efficient, they had the widest diameter can of any twinny made!!
