Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Ariston - Colston Single tub

Plus it still has the protective plastic on covering the chrome trim, shame there's no internal picture of the wash tub.

Don't see many of these!

And not in that condition which is pretty good for a machine that is probably over 30 years old - it is a tad pricy though.

This was pretty much the last gasp of the Rolls washing twin tub which first emerged in around 1958/59 and was actually based on a Dutch design.

The machine has a circular tub with a round pulsator offset to one side on the bottom, with the drain to the pump offset on the other. Water recirculates all the time the motor is running although this is more of a cost saving (and not unlike the Hoover in that respect) as there was no filtration.

Lance's machine in the video is much older, but the washing function was more or less exactly the same

money shot, rolls rapide

This is the wash tub of the rolls, I did see an ariston single tub must be 25 years ago, the tub was as this one but black enamell with white specks, simlar to the hotpoint twin tub wash bowl, and with a black plastic impellor.

Al I agree the pump spout is a sort of economy feature in that it was cheaper to built a continuous flow rather than valves or idlers etc, but having used this machine several times I would say the jet goes quite some way in adding to the washing performance. It seems to break up the circular motion of the load and help the clothes move from the top to lower down in the tub, not very well explained I know but whether it was designed that way or just it was the easiest place to put it the jet is part of the wash action.

As you say Gary if it was closer I would definatly go for it.

Spin can

this was the later rolls designed spin can, called the centramatic spin dryer, found on the deluxe model. Supposedly the cone shape, spun the water down through the load and out at the bottom ring of hole, aiding better rinsing in the spin dryer. The standard machine, ie no heater, had an ordinary cylindrical drum.

Hoover Computer Logic Tuble Dryer D6376

I'm surprised you all missed it, I'd thought it'd've been top of the list...

A Hoover Computer Logic Tumble Dryer D6376, in Dove Grey.
The auction's ended, but still got viewable pics.
