This is the wash tub of the rolls, I did see an ariston single tub must be 25 years ago, the tub was as this one but black enamell with white specks, simlar to the hotpoint twin tub wash bowl, and with a black plastic impellor.
Al I agree the pump spout is a sort of economy feature in that it was cheaper to built a continuous flow rather than valves or idlers etc, but having used this machine several times I would say the jet goes quite some way in adding to the washing performance. It seems to break up the circular motion of the load and help the clothes move from the top to lower down in the tub, not very well explained I know but whether it was designed that way or just it was the easiest place to put it the jet is part of the wash action.
As you say Gary if it was closer I would definatly go for it.
