Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I noticed it!!!

And bid on it from £1.00 upwards but it just kept saying 'youve been outbid'. I went up to £35 and then thought sod it, it's not worth more than £35. Typical that it went for £36 in the end.

Not a happy bunny as i hardly bid on anything & i hate it when people slap massive amounts down straight away to stop anyone else getting something, but that's the sometimes greedy nature of eBay i spose.

Ebay.......

Id have to agree with Rob on this as annoying as it is at times :(.

A good example of this is a week or so ago there was a T5090 Hoovermatic on Ebay and it was in Dover. I really wanted it, went to look at it before bidding etc.....

It ended up going for £170!!! my max was about £100 less than that.

Obviously someone wanted it far more than I did and I doubt it was a collector either as im not aware of any others down this way- I cursed and moved on- one will show up eventually.

I still cry every time I think of the T5090 in a local charity shop a few years back - it was absolutly MINT much nicer than the Ebay one, came with fill hose (and a new spare), instructions and tongs- it was £30.00 sadly I had nowhere to put it at the time :(.

I do however get pissed off when 2 ppl start a bidding war ages before something ends and drive the price up to far over what it would be if they just sniped with their absolute max bid!!.

Seamus

Hi guys

Bidding wars are only good if you are the seller :).

Sorry to hear that you hit a sore point with the T5090 Seamus. But wow, the seller got seriously lucky to get £170.

Still not sure about the TE350 and what machine it was go with with, as it wasn't released with the Computawash, it was released I think with the FJ1033/WDJ1285 models, the early 90's ones, which ran till 1994/5 I think.

Oh i wanted it ALOT, trust me. It's just not everyone has hundreds of pounds to throw at something like a 15/20 year old appliance. Doesn't mean they want it any less though, and i'm certain i'm not the only one who'd react as i did if it were something they wanted. In fact i've seen it on here before. Anyway it's gone now & i've spent far too much money on crappy things like boiler repairs this week so i guess it was a blessing somehow.

I can't think of the equivilent washer to go with the TE350 either though. Have never seen an electronic washer of the light grey panel variety (like FJ1033/1214, FL1032 etc). After Computawash the next i can think of is the Directa's.

Liam.

I want it as I think it is the same one I had in Oz and it is a great machine. Sadly without remodelling the kitchen I have nowhere to put it :-(

I can see you wanted it a lot Liam

the TE350 is a rarity, only one I've seen on eBay so far. I just don't get why it went up to £36, as you could get a more modern dryer for that price, for an older dryer of that time period, (not this one exactly) it wouldn't shift even if it went into the freebies section of gumtree! Perhaps someone on here got it, as they would pay something like £36 as a collector's item.

£36....

I wonder if it's gone to a collector aswell. Whoever got it had put a big bid on it initially, as when it was on 99p and i put my bid on, it kept saying 'outbid' right up to £35 when i gave up.

If it is someone on here then theyre acting abit suspect by not saying anything, but meh, people work in mysterious ways i guess!

Sheesh!

Considering its an AUCTION id say whoever won it had full rights to buy it if they had the funds and means to bloody well buy it.

Anyone is free to bid and free to win if they so choose so.

Quit with the sour grapes, we all have our limits and theres always someone who is able to pay more sometimes.
As for big bids SO WHAT? Often I will stick maximum bidding amounts on an item if I go out for the day and wont be around the PC at the end of the auction. My perrogative to do that.

You win some you lose some.

And if it has gone to a collector here and they choose not to post about it then thats also their perrogative.

Not sure why you of all people are having a rant, after the way you jumped at that guy who was gonna bid on a certain Hoover New Wave in Manchester that you had your eye on not so long ago, Rob.

Seems like you can do/say just what you want as long as youre happy, but anyone else has to vet their actions or responses extremely carefully so as not to offend your good self.

A case of complete double standards.

As for the new wave.....

I felt it good manners to let everyone know I would be bidding on it regardless.

That didnt stop whoemever wanted to bid also to have a go. They had their chance to bid and didnt win.

Like we say whomever wants it the most is prepared to pay the most and has sufficient funding to do so.

Plenty of auctions we have let go so that collectors here can bid and win.

I also seem to remember you asking another collector to inform you of any upcoming stuff for sale not long after the New Wave was bought. Is that a case of Double Standards you talk about?

The tone of your message in the thread about the New Wave was not just good manners, or if it was, it wasn't put across in such a way. I'll find it if i have to, but i'd hope you'd remember it yourself.

And no, the double standards i speak of is it being okay for you to make a fuss about another member bidding on the New Wave, but if i even write a general response about eBay, not aimed at anyone in particular, then i get a mouthful off you telling me i'm wrong. THATS the double standards i speak of.

We both said more or less the same things, tho i was more polite and didn't target a specific individual, and yet somehow i'm wrong to do it and youre quite within your rights. That's what i take issue with.
