my hotpoint twin tub has finally done its last wash so a friend of mine said he had a machine that i could have for free he said it was working and the machine is a hoover computer control 1100 A3688 but after i had carried it up 3 flights of stairs i discovered thats it doesnt work lol so i need your help in getting her up and running again when you plug her in there is no life at all i have tried chjanging the mains cable fuse etc i have found a control board online for £54 which i would be willing to spend but i want to make sure that it is this part will upload pics tomorrow

Hi James, it could be anything really, the mains suppressor, the door interlock, the PCB. I'm not an expert on Hoover unfortunately. You might be better starting a new thread, members are more likely to notice your question.
The Defy Automaid will be some kind of Brandt machine. It looks similar to the Proline W850 which we learned to be a Brandt. The number of programmes and their arrangement around the dial also appears to be virtually identical (see pic below).
The Defy machines were shown a while ago in a thread by our South African member as I recall.
It'll be a sturdy little piece of equipment!
Loving that Hotpoint 9546 in need of just a door - my Aunt had that machine; the spin sliders were always my favourite variant in the standard lineup. Seems to be quite the season for the 95 series in general: very reassuring to see longevity in light of my recent acquisition of the slightly later WM specimen! Strange really how machines that were once so ubiqitious have become something to covet.
