and for a personal favourite - similar vintage to the Electron.
A Hotpoint 95490 Electronic de luxe 1000.
My parents had the slightly lesser, earlier model 95452 (the almond version of the 95450 Electronic de luxe 800) - externally identical to the 95490 bar the colour (the almond version was 95492). My dad kept it going for 19 years, until the bearings went and it seized up.

OMG!!!!
That Hotpoint was THE ONE that started my Hotpoint Obsession!
Was my Godmothers who got 13 years out of it washing for a family of 3.
How I loved the flip switches and clear dial, always fun to pull on push off.
And the Ariel sign on the drawer, of course at 5 years old one thought it was a symbol meaning pour Ariel in here, gawd how only some 10 years later I realised that Hotpoint only reccommended Persil and that was the only detergent one shoud use in ones Hotpoint for best results,

PLus my grandma also had a hottie the same as that but was a rental so was a bit beaten up.

a Hotpoint reversomatic - model 17760 (I think).
Matches the Microtronic X2000 of the early 1980's - even stole its buttons. Comes with a buzzer too!

a proper Liberator this time - the model 1701.
Going by the white plate at the bottom of the machine, this dryer used to sit on top of a matching/liberatoresque washing machine.

A matching dryer for a Microtronic… Mmmmmm…
Or more likely: *extremely loud noise… no possibility of having the TV on un the house at the same time…* ;-)Does anyone know how quiet these dryers are compared with, say, a Microtronic L.E. washing machine, which we had from the early 1980s to 1995?

I remember a local friend with one! It always caught me eye!Oh, and another friend here had a Hoover Logic washer dryer.

its been Reversomatic central at the moment - there was a 17660 (the model prior to the 17760 shown above) which had the extra silver bits on the facia.
Have just been and checked and no one bit, although a very nice looking AEG Lavatherm from the early 1980s went for about £4.00 - a snip.
Now there is a piece of 1960s nostalgia on at the moment, although it is motorless apparrently - an old PARNALL Auto-dry

Carl - we had a later 1980s version of the original Hotpoint dryer design with the filter in the back - I actually had it for the first 3 years or so of my posting here. Nice dryer - was stuck on low heat for years but still dried fairly evenly and quickly. Only problem I had with it was that it was a haven for static electricity with the plastic drum, if you didn't use Bounce then you'd be fried! Was much better than the 2007 version we had for a couple months before we got our current dryer...
Those old Hotpoint dryers were loud to match the washers I think. When the bearings would go it would squeak as it tumbled clockwise and grind as it tumbled anti-clockwise! We used to hate it at the time, but when it's mentioned now we just look back and laugh, especially considering it dried for our family for 16 years (it died just before my 17th birthday, If i remember correctly, and mum got it just after I was born... over a decade more than the Bosch dryer...

I can vouch for the loudness of Hotpoint dryers!
My grandma had a liberator (like the 1701 shown above, but earlier - it didn't have the traditional hotpoint script but simply showed 'HOTPOINT LIBERATOR DRYER').
The roar it used to make when at work was quite considerable, as was its replacement in the early 1990's by a 4 digit 93** series machine, which wasn't any quieter.
Downstairs at the mo we have a Hotpoint TDL52 from the previous series of machines, as well as a Servis dryer. Even today, the noise made by the Hotpoint is quite considerable. I would say that the Servis makes prbably a third less noise (unscientific guess).
Still , the old Hotties made for an atmospehere.
As you say Jon, why should the washers take all the noise glory - bring on a Hotpoint Liberator/Liberatoresque dryer and you will have a pretty even competition!

I used to have a Hotpoint 9326 Reversomatic from the early 90's.
I only had it for 4/5 months of this year, however I came to love it dearly. I was soon forced to get rid of it due to its erratic increase of squeaks and grinds. It did a good job, and reverse tumbled evenly which I did like.
I do have a video of it which I have just uploaded to youtube.
