hey guys,
The otherday i got my hoover ecologic brochure through the post. Fabulous read. I'm even considerin the switch from logic to Ecologic. I just wondered, i know the main differences bein 20litre less water usage and less energy, but can anyone clarify this for me; did these machines spin faster than my logic in between rinses? Mine being 500rpm between rinses.

I don't know if i made this up in my head or if its a fact that these span at 800rpm between the rinses. i know my newwave did.

I'm wondering what my chances of findin a computer ecologic are. Ebays gone abit dry for vintage stuff. Right now all i'm seeing is indesit WIL's And Hotpoint WF's.

I'm also considering movin my quartz on. Can't decide. Anyway i hope everyones enjoyin their sunday. i'm just doin a humungous colours load! i love it when its abit colder over here. My loads double in size! lol!

The ecologic seems to be a interresting machine. In my opinion you can make the dream collection. Both Hoover Logic and Ecologic. What a nice pair!!!!

Whats the problem with the quartz? I noticed it sounded a little squeaky on the videos. Did you notice: the squeak was not heard during the distribution/spin. May be the drive belt just a little dry or something.

the quartz seems to make that dreadful noise at the beggining of the cycle but wears off as the cycle goes on.

I'm unsure what i want to do with the machine at this moment in time though! It sounds a little louder than it used to be..i'm thinkin bearings arent too clever.

hi darren,
we had an ecologic 1100 in my childhood and it span at 500 between rinses coz i remember moving the timeline across to 'N' which was Spin Dry 500, it was the same speed as the rinse spins. I remember knowing when the machine was going to launch into spin because the timer made two distinct clicks before beginning to spin.

Squeeky quartz

Darren that squeeky noise on your quartz is just the drive belt. It needs tightening or replacing but tighten it first should cure that. I had the same noise on mine cause it wasn't tight enough. It gets quieter as it warms up.

Not sure where I heard it so don't quote me exactly on it but I believe the cycle times are slightly longer on the Ecologic. My aunt had one a few years back and she always used to use Minimum Iron programme and it seemed to take forever compared to other machines out at the same time. Still quicker than some modern machines though. I believe hers dated back to 1991.

Hi mate

All Ecologics I used did a 500 spin between rinses. I have used an Ecologic1300 with the time delay thing and a more basic ecologic 1200 and a round door 1100.

I think that Ecologics didn't tumble as much as Logics - even on cottons, the machines seem to rest more than they wash.

This could be why the cycle times were longer. I remember `C' was one hour and fifteen on the ecologic. How does that compare with the logic?

hmmm interestin. well my logics cycles vary dependin on outside tap water temp. as i run my machine off cold fill. its longer in winter. standardly it will do 40 in about 1hr to 1hr-30mins. hard to say. i've never ran this machine off hot and cold even when i had it in the house for a month when i got it.

It does heat exceptionally fast though. only thing i'm noticing is the drums exceptionally stiff, i no hoover drums were never the free'est of drums to turn by hand. it just makes me wonder if theres any underlying issue there.

If I remember rightly, I always remember the Hoover drum being stiff to turn as a kid when I used to turn the drum round by hand (don't laugh - all of us did this when we were younger, pretending to wash a couple of teatowels inside!). I remember when we got the Creda it was so much better beacuse the drum was looser and I could actually do a spin cycle with my weak 8 year old arms LOL.

From what I've felt of your Logic Darren, I think it seems about normal. But again second or third opinions would be helpful - bear in mind this is dependent on me remembering 10 years back :-).

ahh yes the spinnin the drum as a child is a fond memory. my grandma used 2 unplug it n let me mess about as it were.

i just wondered if the stiffness of the drum was linked to the motor with me havin problems with it varyin speeds not long ago

oh my god. . .

same here with the drum turning thing! Did you put an empty wash ball in for effect too? Lmao. I also used to try to "spin" a full load of washing after the machine had finished. My weak child arms got it just past distribute speed in the electrolux. My Hotpoint drum seems stiff but the logic at high school was always stiff. Thats going back 11 years i remember Nick. that.

Been thinking lately and now my housemate knows of my "Hobby" its time to start a collection. If you do decide the Quartz is to go i would definitely take it off your hands for a handsome price in your favour. Quartz's featured so much in my childhood so it would be great to own one thats been well looked after. It would also maybe convince me enough to maybe buy a pack of Ariel. . . . Only joking. Lol. But seriously let me know if you do want to. Nick
 
Hi there. As said before by me and Sparkcumry: The quartz noise is just the belt that needs to be tighten up. The thing that the sound disappaer later in the program is a telling sign.

At another job i was at some years ago, there was a similar problem with a machine they had there. After i tighted the belt the sound was there no more.

About your logic: You say the drum is stiff? Hmm. I noticed something odd in the video of the last rinse. Listen closely at 01.47-01.48. When the drum starts to move theres a slight "bong". I recongnise that type of sound.

My guess is that the coal in the motor needs to be replaced. The others symptoms you describe can be related to that as well. However you can off course use the machine til it dies. I really hopes it will work a long time before that.

If you want a lenghty describition on how to fix the coal please tell me so. I just wanna help thats all.

hehe Darren looks like the logics been on something! That explains the temp breakdown. I would get it booked into The Priory in any case, must be some extras in those fairy tabs i didnt know about lol Nick.
 
woooot! i replaced those not so long ago?! maybe they're not fitted properly then?!:S grrr pain in the ass niggly things wind me up! lol.

nick-that'd explain why the logic has bin wobblin around then hey ;-) priory here she comes lol.
 
you must also be going crazy too lol

an ecologic surely wont have crazy high rinse levels like a regular logic? HMmm i think somebodys swapped Darren with a clone ecowarrior. Pmsl. Nick.
