hey everyone i know i havent written for a while, been holdaying and stuff, but just thought i'd post my little story about my new indesit hotpoint (the one that spins the other way). I bought it in march, and 2 months after i got it, the pump began making a bizarre buzzing noise. indesit (i use indesit instead of hotpoint, because lets face it hotpoint no longer exists - a fact that i am deeply bitter about)came out to lok at the machine and they said there was nothing wrong....whatever it wasn't that much of an issue.
a further month on - the machine makes a grinding noise when i t spins....the bearings have gone...on a 3 month old machine.
i called currys in a rage, said i wanted a new machine, they said call indesit as they could help as it was past the 14 day returns date...fine
i call indesit - i said i wanted the machine replaced - they said no - we will replace the drum!!!
i later found out that replacing the drum on this and most other new hotpoint machines was not a simple process as the drum and its assembly are welded together, so essentially the whole interior of my machine was replaced. the engineer who replaced it later told me this cost indesit more than the price of the machine.
problem solved?....no, the machine now rattles when it spins
the engineer hadn't fitted the drum properly, so another one had to come out an fit it again. all in all 4 engineer visits and a new drum assembly and a new heater (for some reason) later and the machine works (basically) the machine creaks now when it begins to rotate when it is full of water or has a heavey load...does anyone know why?.
so for anyone out there thinking of buying a hotpoint machine, i used to sing their praises but now forget it, dont waste your money, their service is awful and their machines are cheap re-branded indesit knock-offs.
why was it so difficult for them to replace the machine?
*sigh*
