Need some help, hope someone knows their electric motor as I don't. Picked up a used table saw, motor is acting up or bad. Lots of arcing, white and blue sparks, then motor cuts out after 3;0-40 seconds. Pulled the housing off, the commutator where the brushes ride in bad shape. Used tenblondie's suggestion and made a Velcro belt and used an electric drill to rotate the motor as we sanded down the wear on the copper strips. Started rough, as there were high spots, finished off with 800 grit. Brushes are bad, tried to reshape them, it a Rigid saw, but we have to order parts.
Anyway after the last cleaning and assembly it ran worse than when we got it. We cleaned each space between the contacts as they were file with crud, but no luck. Any ideas? Or is the motor toast.....
