Electrical hook up for Kitchenaid KDI-17

The connection box on my KDI-17 has two terminals marked L1 and L2. Which terminal gets the black power supply wire from the panel? It was connected with the black wire on the L1 terminal but I am not sure if this is correct. Can anyone help?
