I was using my wringer washer today and a sheet went the wrong way under the rollers and then pop.
Smoke, burnt electrical smell and nothing would work. Tried another socket and everything worked again. The smoke and smell came from the washer. Just wondering what went wrong and is it safe to use? The washer washes, the rolls turn and the pump drains.

Prongs....

Did you check the electrical prongs on the plug? I've seen them smoke and become charred from poor connections and from a sudden burst of high amperage draw. Make sure they're clean and shiny.

Besides the machines plug-did you check your fuse or breaker box for blown fuses or a tripped breaker? When you mentioned you tried another outlet "everything worked again"Your washers overload may have blown a fuse or tripped the breaker feeding the outlet you were using at the beginning of your wash session.
