Interesting badge on this Servel.  Chances are it doesn't cool, and if that's the case, it's overpriced even as a novelty item.

I have the book and instruction leafletfor that

Its a very early Servel, they were callee Electrolux then, I bet it WILL cool, they almost never quit.

Thanks Hans.

I sort of recall John L. stating that a key component on gas refrigerators has a tendency to burn through or some such problem, so assumed this one's chances of cooling could be questionable.

Did this unit have an interior light?  I'm wondering if it might have a cord on it and that as a result, the seller isn't indicating that it runs on gas.

This is very much like the Servel my parents had when I was a toodler. It’s the first refrigerator I can remember us having. One of our neighbors when we moved to the country also had a Servel much like this when we moved there in 1963. When the matriarch of this family passed away 2 years ago, and the family home was sold, that little Servel was still chugging along. At that time it must have been at least 80 years old, and I’m pretty sure that they never did anything to repair it over the years, it just ran and ran, maintanance free. It sat on the back porch and was used as their beer fridge and was the backup when the power went out.

Histroy of Electrolux-Servel

Servel was a shortened motto of "Serving Electricity" from
National Electric Products Company. They had purchased the patents and North American and Cuban rights for an absorptive refrigeration system from Elektrolux in Sweden.
