Just received my new Electrolux steam iron from Amazon.
I never even knew Electrolux/Frigidaire made irons. They even have an Affinity line to match your washer/dryer set.

It's big, heavy (a good thing), very long cord (just over 9 ft), 673 vents for steam, 3-way Auto-off, Resilium sole plate, Extra-Large Stand , Vertical Steam, 360 Degree Swivel Cord, Ergonomic Rubber Grip Handle, Anti-Drip System, Self-Clean and Anti-Calc Systems, 1800 watts. Comes in white/gray or black (black is pretty cool looking).

This just replaced my 11 year old Rowenta Precision.

I haven't used it too much yet but the burst of steam is really strong.
Time will tell if it will live up to the Rowenta. Wish me luck.

Wattage outside of USA

For some reason the wattage outside of America is a lot higher.
1800 watts is pretty high here (I think, it's the highest wattage iron I've ever owned).

What are the benefits of say, 3000 watts vs. 1800 watts?

I generally get three years, tops. And that's taking care of them like they were fine Swiss watches.
 
My ironing habits...

I iron 5 to 6 days a week but only for what I wear to work each day (dress pants/khakis, dress shirt).

I will touch up a t-shirt or shorts to take out wrinkles.

So I don't do long ironing sessions, just quick (when I need them) use.

I do take good care of what I own.

I figured there was a difference between your ironing and mine, LOL!

I iron everything. In fact, some years back, my cool young nephew tried to set his old uncle Sandy straight on current trends, saying, "Why do you still iron everything? Nobody does that any more!"

To which I replied: "Kid, when you get to be my age, you'll understand the value of having one set of wrinkles under control!"

Postscript: He's 35 now, and he's beginning to see what I meant.
 
I have exactly the same iron...

1) 673 holes? Come on... that's one of the biggest lies Electrolux ever said.

Look at the soleplate carefully... it really has 673 "holes" but only less than 50 are really open. Heat it up to the max and press the extra steam button, you'll see the 673 (sic) holes in action.
By the way, the american version looks cute... the brazilian version comes in pink, green or blue. the problem is that the

I still dreaming about one of those Philips ironing boards that come with iron and steamer and are available in Europe.
 
Elux - Rowenta only using multi-hundred hole soleplate

From all the research I've done, it seems that only Electrolux and Rowenta are claiming multi-hundred steam holes.

Rowenta claims 300 to 400 holes for steam, depending on the iron model.

Below the soleplate for the Pro Master (400 steam holes) Steamium uses the same number of holes but uses a platinum soleplate.

Ah, that would make sense... the reason that US irons are lower wattage is because your voltage is lower, so your 15amp outlets cannot deliver as much power as a UK/Ireland 13amp or Continental European 16Amp outlet can.

120V * 15amps = 1800 watts (circuit protected with 15amp breaker/fuse)
230V * 13amps = 2990 watts (plug fused with 13amp fuse)
230V * 16 amps = 3680 watts (circuit protected with 16amp breaker/fuse)

So, in general European outlets can provide considerably (twice as much) power for the same amperage.

The main advantage for irons is that it heats very quickly and it can have some impact on the amount of steam the iron can produce too as it recovers its temperature very quickly.
 
UGH Irons

I am always looking at irons on Amazon. But some of the reviews are just aweful and scare me away. Thanks for posting about this model and please follow up after a few weeks of use. I am currently using a PS iron that is 19 yrs old. It developed a leak several years back so I only dry iron with it now. Would love to replace it, but end up in a dead lock condition with what to choose.

Would love a Laura Star, but there are no dealers anywhere near Atlanta.
