Elemental silver as germicide

Speaking of OCD in other threads-

Check out this Samsung washer that uses silver (the element) as a germicde.

Reminds me of AGN03 (Silver Nitrate) in the eyes of a newborn to kill-off germs/viruses. Used to prevent STD's ("VD") from blinding junior.

Very Interesting

I wonder if it will pass the CR scrutiny and be all they say it is..I'm betting NO. I don't think this is anything "new", silver has long been known for it's ability to stop infections or whatever, hence the nitrate for the baby eyes like you said and is also promoted as colloidial silver by quacks to cure everything, taken internally and with great risks.

...and how long (should this thing ever take-off)until it is announced that as with heavy metals this thing causes cancer.

Imagine if clothes washed within set off airport metal detectors!

How does one go about "re-charging" the silver?
