Not knowing a lot about fridges, I though now wonder what fridge she owns...

I watched that yesterday, as we were having our 37th day of snow this season, so going outside was not an option. I know her refrigerator is not like my Whirlpool as mine only makes a faint buzzing when defrosting and will burn the lightbulb out if you leave the door ajar. I wish it would beep if the door is left open.
Our Liebherr used to beep if the door was left open.
I have 2 Whirlpools, 1 a side by side and the other is a top freezer. Both are TOL and they both beep if the freezer door is open more than 1 inch for more than 10 minutes.

10-years-old GE Arctica SxS. "Door Alarm" function can be turned on/off via the dispenser panel. Tied to the light circuit, indicator flashes on the dispenser panel when either door is open, beeping triggers after 2 mins.

LG bottom freezer (not French door), new in 2010. Beeps when either door has been open for "too long". Never timed it but I'd estimate about a minute and a half... Great feature (especially since the freezer drawer can look closed if you aren't paying close attention, but if something is keeping the basket from sliding all the way closed, it can keep the door slightly open. BUT...I wish it had a 'snooze' button so you could put groceries away without being driven mad by the beeping!
the beeping can be helpful, and annoying.....but as Ellen mentioned, everything in the house beeps.......
worst is the smoke alarm, especially if you have several, trying to find the one that needs the battery replaced.....what puzzles me, is mine are all hardwired in, and use a battery as a backup......how/why does that battery go dead under normal use?....makes you wonder why they don't recharge automatically.....
most beeps/chimes, you get used to, its when a mystery one pops up that turns you into Sherlock Holmes......
cleaning out the basement fridge only to discover I had a lime in there, then realized, it used to be a head of lettuce!....
