Saw a couple of cool things at two estate sale stops today. The first sale was interesting but only found a well loved model 12 Mixmaster. There are a couple of good parts on it, really what I wanted it for. Check out that bojack bowl. It fits properly on the turntable but is shorter and not nearly as we'll balanced as an OEM Sunbeam bowl.

Second stop

The house was just a block down on our street and turned out to be pretty interesting. The owner was an appliance repair tech for many years. I'd met him a couple of times through the years, we chatted about brands and his band, his true passion. There were two Philco ranges, one 40" & one 30" in the basement. Both were TOL, 1970 and coppertone. Made by the early conglomeration of WCI, they were the all-to-familiar frame, and homely, builder-grade styling. I couldn't get a pic of the ranges in the house as the kitchen was occupied by lots of sale workers chewing lunch from an avocado Crock-Pot (NFS) and the basement range was in an area technically closed to the public. They were still busy chewing upstairs so I made a run for it.

In the "shop" part of the basement there was a Philco D&M portable dishwasher. Missing it's lower panel and lower rack, and really rough underneath. Very fun to see, but only to see. Not to have.

My big purchase was a Philco Ford binder with 1970 range service & parts info.

On my way out, a pretty car pulled up. My first car, but white and hardtop. [this post was last edited: 6/20/2014-22:28]

I've seen that top rack arrangement in brochures and ads, but never a "real" one--bowls and such went side to side rather than front to back.

I always thought..

The Ford Philco ranges were built by them, I do know Caloric got that range design, certainly not as good as 1950s Philcos!!!
