Fairly good day at the sales...

I found the blender at a thrift store in Duluth, MN this past week.

Blender-Glam.

Made by Oster... the $20 pricetag was a bit hard to swallow... but I couldn't leave it. We dated it last night as probably 1966 or 1967. The same blender with an updated graphic/sticker is in our 1968 Sears catalog.

Cool beans on all fronts Fred!! Curious, is the dishwasher use & care manual for the same Hotpoint dishwasher y'all have in the kitchen? If so, I'd love to see it scanned in. Have never seen a manual for any of those versions.

Wow! That Lady Kenmore blender is beautiful! As is everything else in the haul! Also never seen an old electric blanket like that. Its really cool! Bet it works well!

Fred are you the one?

That has a blender that was made into a lamp and if so could you tell me how you did it. I have that same blender and I bought it because I wanted to make a kitchen lamp out of it.Thanks Carl

That was Jeff Parker who made the lamps.... A former member of AW who sort of vanished into thin air -- and should really come back to play. He has so much knowledge (like making blender lamps) that I'm sure is missed by many in this group. He did make one for me when we were friends; it's in our downstairs bathroom.

I don't recall exactly how to do it, but it did involve gutting the blender (which I remember being somewhat tedious), and saving the cord and the leads from the main power switch.

You can get all you need to do it at Home Depot... I seem to recall getting the light socket and the white sheath that you can cut to size in one kit together, and I think you also need that threaded tubing that is also in the lamp area. You have to put a metal washer in the base of the jar and also in the motor housing which blocks off the hole from the drive block, and use the nuts that correspond with the threaded tubing to hold it all together. It wasn't terribly difficult to do, and the results are fabulous!

Although it seems like it would be such a shame to de-comission such a fabulous blender! That's why I waited until I found a sort-of boring 80's one.

Another "porch-load" of goodies! Very nice controller and label on the blanket, Universal really was the best choice for their brand. They made everything. Those blender-lamps are very fun, perhaps Jeff will pop in and conduct a class on making them. Just in time for holiday gift-giving!

A Universal electric blanket! Does it still work? What is a Slumber Sentinel, anyway?
