Name the washer in the background of this pic!

Pic was taken in 1962, central NY state.

I do NOT know what it is, but my guess is Hotpoint.

Can anyone pinpoint it?

I'm going to guess a Wizard (the Western Auto brand that I think was made by Gambles) - the tub lid opening to the side like that was not a common thing in those days and I seem to remember a 1957 ad showing the Wizard model with a tub opening like this..
That's my SWAG (scientific wild-assed guess...

I'm going with Hotpoint. I'd recognize that cabinet top+gasket  anywhere and I can make out the little square "RESET" button in the middle of the backsplasher right under the control panel.  Love to see the front of it.

Hotpoint for sure -

this was TOL for 61 - note the panel mounting and the reset button in the lower regions. Those are Hotpoint hinges on the lid and the knob is nearly the same as the one on my 64.

I agree, that is definitely a Hotpoint. It must have been almost brand new then if that picture was take in '62.

They are actually Inglis - Whirlpool's former Canadian counterpart. My folks old Inglis set had that same round sticker that the washer in this pic has. I've seen that sticker on many appliances here when I was young. It has a green maple leaf on it, but I can't remember what it was for (perhaps "made in Canada").

i would say that the pic i posted dates from 1972 to 1973 the year of my birth because my mom bought a set like this one while she was pregnant with me and i was born in 1973 but the set she bought where of that desing but they where inglis superbs lol if any one have scan of this particular model i would love to see them posted on the site

No, that is a friend of mine as a baby. She was posting family pics on FB. As soon as I saw it, I thought "What baby? All I see is a mystery washer!"

My mom said we had a Norge in our first apartment, but no pics exist. In another apartment (I think), we had a standard, boring WP. I have a feeling she didn't know or care what brand of washer we had, but it was probably WP all along.

For some reason, the pic is so captivating, maybe because the woman reminds me of my young grandmother to whom I was devoted.

Would not have guessed Hotpoint. For all the variety we enjoyed here in Western New York, I can't remember having seen even one Hotpoint........except on "Ozzie & Harriet." Either a coincidence or they weren't heavily marketed here.

This was cool to play........anyone else have a pics to guess?.....

this takes you back in time, life was so simple.....many of us wished for different washers as we grew up, but many were happy to just have one that was automatic, or have one period!.....not the biggest or best, just glad they had it!
many kids today don't know what it was like in the days before automatics.....
