Having made many friends at Chuck & Rich's holiday party, Terry is another person I would've loved to have met.  My sincere sympathies go out to both his immediate family, and his extended AW.org family.

I don't know Andy -turboace but I like his idea and have carried it over here for us:

 

"I don't think anyone has thought of this yet, if I missed it, please excuse me. I think to honor Terry, rather than a moment of silence or anything, we should set a time to all throw in a load of laundry,start our dishwashers, and go vacuum with our favorite vacuum to remember all the great times with Terry, knowing how much he liked these activities. 

 

I will leave it to the board both here and AW to decide if this is a good idea or not, and if so, when.

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to all of Terry's family and friends. I obviously did not know Terry but from all the ardent testamonies and sincere, warm words, he was (is) a wonderful person and friend. Please know that although he may be gone he will not be forgotten and will be forever in your hearts.

Several years ago Terry was on vacation here in Las Vegas. We met up at the Stardust Hotel and had a nice dinner. Afterwards I took him on a brief tour of the city, showing him how just the regular people lived here. He enjoyed the drive very much. He was a wonderful guy and he will be missed.

Thats a great idea Jon, Maybe we should make his birthday, July 1, a day of rememberance for Terry. It could be a yearly event where we all celebrate Terry's favorite things.

like so many of us that never had the pleasure of meeting terry in person I find the starting of an appliance would be a fabulous tribute. He has touched so many lives, just look at these forums .. Be grateful for each day for he would loved for you to be happy.

I'm sad to hear this news. While I never had any direct contact with him, he had good posts here. And reading this thread shows that he'll be greatly missed.

I've never had the pleasure to meet Terry in person, but I have enjoyed his posts. I am sad to learn of his passing. The appliance/vacuum world lost a great person.

It shows the make-up of the man when you see all the great responses and memories being posted. Sometimes you touch more people than you may ever know. It also shows that you should be real, genuine, and be there when needed.

Sometimes we may never tell the person how much we appreciate them until it's too late. If you have someone special like this in your life, let them know how you feel. One day it may be too late.

I don't get on the threads as much as I used to because most of my free time is involved in animal rescue, but I just had to post here to say how sorry I am to hear about Terry's sudden passing. If I can think of one word that would describe him, it would be "Gentleman". While I never had the privilege to meet him in person, I did enjoy the times we corresponded through email. He was always so kind and never had a bad word to say about anyone. It's a real loss to those who loved him here in the AW family.

Allen I had already thought of this scenario prior to you mentioning it. Being a survivor of a DVT last October and knowing I was facing imminent death at any second with an embolism, now you all know why and how I was so scared. It is an unfortunate, valuable lesson for all of us to learn and heade Allen advice. As have stated, my heart is broken.

I never had the opportunity to meet Terry, and clearly that is my loss.  I've waited to post here until I could get my hands on a prayer card from my dad's funeral back in 1997.  This is what we selected for the back of the card, and I think it's fairly appropriate for Terry:

 

Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow,

But remember me in every tomorrow.

Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles;

I've only gone to rest a little while.

Although my leaving causes pain and grief,

My going has eased my hurt and given me relief.

So dry your eyes and remember me,

Not as I am now, but as I used to be.

Because I will remember you all,

And look on with a smile.

Understand in your hearts,

I've only gone to rest a little while.

As long as I have the love of each of you,

I can live my life in the hearts of all of you.

 

Rest in peace surely doesn't apply here.  I think Terry would want no part of that scenario.

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to meet and mingle with each other. Then some one at my side says: "There! she's gone!" Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large in the mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side, and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of her destination. Her diminished size is in me, and not in her. And just at that moment, when some one at my side says: "There! she's gone!" there are other eyes that are watching for her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "There she comes!" And that is—dying.

This always brings me comfort in dealing with the loss of family and friends. I hope it will do the same for some of you

Totally shocked...

I was totally shocked to hear of Terry's passing.

He was a dear, kind, and loving soul and a joy to meet and converse with. I always looked forward to reading his posts as he was always so positive and always had something nice to say about the subject at hand. Always.

I will miss him very much.

I've read a lot of these posts just now on Terry's passing-and it was very sad. I've never met him myself-but this is very saddening to hear that we've lost a dear appliance member, and everyone on here and Terry's family have my deepest sympathy.

Tonight I feel grieved...  at the loss of a man who was loved by so many, and whom I had conversed with via email and had hoped to someday meet.  I grieve for those who were close and are hurting.  Recently I too lost someone whom I worked closely with and loved -- it seems my emotions are close to the surface which really is not like me.  I hope that the way Terry lived his life as evidenced in the pages of this website would inspire us to work at emulating some of those finer qualities.
