A big thank you goes out to Ken (bajaespuma) who lent me Hotpoint's "Look for that Hotpoint Difference", an over-sized poster book to scan and enter into the Ephemera Library.

Fred was reading this book this morning and ran across this feature that I don't think I've ever heard about before. Apparently when your roast or fowl is done the range plays "Tenderly" LOL! It must be a similar music box that Westinghouse used on it's dryers to play "How Dry I Am".

That was really a special time for appliances.  Can you imagine any manufacturer putting in ANY extra piece in a unit?  Let alone one as off beat as a musical thermometer.

Actually, putting musical alerts into appliances would be very simple and cheap today, because of electronics. Heck, you have musical greeting cards today - why couldn't your range play "Tenderly" when the roast is done?

Well, these days, when the frozen pizza is done....

Yes, I'm aware of that- My unclear point is the major manufacturers won't put 1extra penny into any appliance than they have to. Today the accountants and stock market rule everything...
