Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a fabric softener dispenser for a BD whirlpool that they're willing to part with. I'm more than happy to pay a fair price plus postage and something for your time.

Repair clinic doesnt ship to australia, plus as I dont have a US model number to line up with, I cant tell which dispensers are DD and which are BD.

Thankyou to anybody who can offer assistance,

Kind regards

Nathan

Agitype

Hi Kenmore1978,

Regular Agitator. I'm assuming you unscrew the normal agitator cap and screw on the dispenser? Or does it just push over the normal agitator cap?

FS dispenser

The reason I asked is that I have a dispenser, but it's for a Dual Action agitator (large cap). It came with the new agitator for my '78 LK, but the LK has the Triple Dispenser

Nathan, let me describe what I found, maybe someone will know what it fits, and if it's what you need.
Looking at the top,it says "FABRIC SOFTENER DISPENSER",with a clockwise arrow that says "TIGHTEN SECURELY"At the top it's about 5 1/2" diameter, the bottom is about 4 3/4" diameter. It has 4 tabs on the bottom to attach to the agitator. It's about 4 1/2"tall.The outer part unscrews from the inner part.
There are 2 numbers on the inside. One says FSP WC2 355006G and the other is 357377W.
Any thoughts?

Repair Clinic

If I do a search on Repair Clinic, for 355006

It comes up with http://www.repairclinic.com/0081.asp?RccPartID=470601. This picture shows a dispenser kit with a typical BD screw on bolt.
If I then search for 357377 it displays the same part kit.

Does the part have a nut on the bottom or just the 4 clips?

If I search on Partselect.com for 355006
it comes up with this http://www.partselect.com/xq/aspx/Inventory.334437/qx/PartDetail.htm?SourceCode=3.

The sears website when searching for 355006 or 357377
Brings up COVER DISPENSE, but no picture.

It sounds like a close bet that this is the right part.

surgilator cap

Hi Kenny,

Based on what comes up on Repair clinic it would appear to be correct. Do you have a surgilator cap that you can push it on to, to see if it fits?

What is the diameter between two of the tabs?

All else failing let me know postage costs and I'll risk it.

Thanks muchly

Nathan

I'm not an expert, but Goatfarmer's dispenser looks like a Kenmore, not a Whirlpool. It may not fit a Surgilator cap.

Hmmm

Thanks Daddoes, I'm not sure myself.

The current dispenser kit on repair clinic looks the same and comes up for both kenmore and whirlpool.

I'll give it a go, and worst case scenario I'm out $30AUD.

Unless anyone else has a difinitive answer or a dispenser that comes directly off a surgilator. :)

I appreciate your input. Keep it comming

Thanks

Nathan

That is similiar to the cap I have, except mine doesnt have all the ribs on the side.

It has the bumps that sit in the 3 depressions on each side but not all the other ribs.

How does the dispenser grip onto the surgilator cap? Using the 3 depressions?

It just sits on the cap, grips it by friction. The extra ribs on the cap shown @ RepairClinic may help it grip a bit more securely, but otherwise I don't think the ribs, bumps, and depressions make any difference. Your cap is the "classic" 1960s through 1980s Surgilator cap. Same design was used in chrome, black, and white. Our 1962 machine had a chrome cap exactly like that. It didn't have a softener dispenser, but this one would have worked.

Our 1976 super-capacity machine had a slightly different design. The cap itself didn't have an integral screw. A separate double-threaded screw held the agitator down. A nut inside the agitator cap secured the cap on top, there was an insert that snapped off the top of the cap to get to the nut inside. The 1976 machine did have this dispenser.
