Kind-of modeling the "Like" feature from Facebook, I added a new feature to automaticwasher.org called Color-Checkrating. If you are an upgraded member and like a post you are reading then click on the little red color-check in the upper left corner of the post, each post has one. Once you click on it the checkrating amount moves up one and the check turns blue. If change your mind or clicked on it by mistake, simply click the light blue check mark again, it turns back to red and takes away your checkrating.

The more the "checkrated" number clicks up the more members like your post. This is meant to as a feel-good feature to let others know their post is great. So now give it a try, go out and checkrate some posts you like.

In case you are wondering the name "checkrate" or "checkrated comes from the mid 1950's consumer reports way of saying they like a product they are currently testing...

ps, let me know if you see anything buggy about this. Thanks everyone.

Oh I forgot to mention that those of you who are still on Internet Explorer 6 or earlier, this wont work (yet). I need to add special code just for the earlier Internet Explorers, which I will do sometime soon.

Working in IE 6 now

Just wanted to give an update on this feature for Internet Explorer Users. As of right now I have it working in IE 6 and greater. With both IE 6 and 7 you can checkrate a post but as of yet you cannot un-check it. Fortunately rarely would you ever have to un-check it.

All other browsers, including Firefox, IE8, Chrome and Opera it appears to be working as it should. I'll research the problem and fix IE6 and 7 next week when I get some free time.

I've made one small change to show a blank when the checkrated amount is zero, instead of a 0 which will be the majority of the posts. There will be a number to the left of the red check if it has been clicked on by a member. Since there has been 460 check rates in aw.org in 9 days the feature seems to be useful.
